I actually log in throughout the work day just to check the store for good rolls. It's me, I'm the brokebrained one.

I really like the bolter, but man, the animation to switch to it is s l o w. Lug this apparently 20kg hunk of metal up, laboriously rack the slide and then finally bring it up to ready.

Dr. Fishopolis posted:I think I found the post you're talking about, they like the kantrael mk xii? Yeah that's a good question. I don't think that's unreasonable at all. How precisely you implement such a system is an open question but the output makes sense. Like in VT2 I think posters ITT are remembering the game from the perspective of the endgame where crafting resources are functionally infinite (for oranges, at least) and getting the precise item you want is just a matter of smashing reroll until it pops up. That is obviously not the case when leveling your first character but you cab make incremental progress with a weapon type you like. So where darktide lands on crafting resources between "you can't craft anything" and "crafting resources are functionally infinite" is a pretty big excluded middle. The guy who rolls a weapon he likes and forces themselves to stick with it even if the rolls aren't great because they can only afford to roll one occasionally is at a small but noticeable disadvantage over someone who takes the best of whatever the game gives them. That seems like a fair trade to me? Of course if the crafting system was finished we wouldn't be forced to speculate on what form it might take.

widespread posted:To be fair, thought it only spilled lunch out when it hit carapace armor. Or did they change it? yes they buffed it but haven't fixed the text on the feat. It procs on any armor (Flak, Carapace) and Unyielding. So all monstrosities proc it, any Ogryn enemy procs it no matter where you hit them, any Scab enemy, and most specialist/elite dreg shooter. Also the dreg melee dudes with helmets if you bean them in the head. It's gone from super niche to incredibly good crowd clear in addition to deleting the primary target.

The best part of the store reroll system is that Zealot has an entire chain of feats that only function if you're using one (1) specific weapon with one (1) specific perk

After playing a bunch with the bolter, I think you could make it a lot better feeling by significantly-shortening the switching animation, but in return giving the gun an accuracy/handling malus for a few seconds as your character adjusts to the weight. That way, snap shots are still possible, but you're not gonna be sniping scabs from afar reliably on the fly.

Rumbler is good, I once stunned two hounds by bouncing the projectile off of them. And then they died to the explosion. patch notes dropped on steam Tweaked Munitorum Mk III Power Sword: Tuned down cleave on powered attacks (from infinite to simply very big cleave - 8.5 to 12.5 cleave range, so around 10 enemies) Added damage falloff for targets beyond the third on heavy activated sweeps. scales from 130-260 at targets 1, 2 and 3 down towards 50-100 at target 8+ Grognan fucked around with this message at 20:15 on Dec 14, 2022 |

It doesn't seem accurate enough at the ranges you actually need to pull out a gun to deal with, especially compared to the grenade, which can hit with pinpoint accuracy at basically any range It causes a lot of suppression so any shooters you fire at are likely to just start running or cowering, and once you get the hang of it it's not too hard to pop shooter heads at range by tap firing. IMO it's best niche is shooter suppression and mid-ranged horde clearing + specialist killing. Ogryn's best job is horde management in general so it fits quite well for that job.

In an ideal group someone besides the ogryn would deal with the ranged elites like snipers etc with far better ammo efficiency than a nade gauntlet. I like the nade gauntlet because with it I don't need anyone else to "do their job".

Grenade gauntlet has 4 shots, does heavy damage on direct hit, and staggers anything but a monstrosity. I find it deals well enough with elites that I have trouble transitioning to anything else. Being able to just knock a crusher to the ground while your team stabs him up or interrupt a reaper is very handy. Short switch animation too

If you can clear an incoming horde at range I feel like it's worth doing as it lets your vet and psyker (assuming a squad with no overlap) deal with any specials or elites with way less stress. Also you gotta have big dakka for the big guy.

Kaddish posted:I just started leveling Ogryn and just got to 10. Do they have ANY weapon that can deal with ranged? Either of the nade launchers are solid. Rumbler is direct hit impact that can at the very least stagger elites, followed by an explosion. Direct headshot hits with the nade will oneshot most specials and some elites. It's quick to whip out and use, accurate when aiming, and the explosion is good wave clear and AE stagger. Great for nailing a gunner in the face and then exploding his shooter buddies. The gauntlet has more rounds in the magazine and deals with elites pretty drat well on direct hits, but the AE range is nothing to write home about. Both unfortunately have the same weakness: railings and chainlink fences. edit: patchnotes posted:Refine is now available in the Shrine of the Omnissiah. So what does refine actually do? Reroll the perk, or upgrade it to the next tier? Fishstick fucked around with this message at 20:17 on Dec 14, 2022 |

Short switch animation too You can also nade punch dudes with it (4th button) and regular melee with it is actually pretty decent as well. It's very much a do everything well weapon. Only annoying catch with it is that reload is fairly slow and if you have 2 rounds in and try to reload then punch someone mid reload - you end up with 0 ammo in it and have to redo the full reload animation.

Tweaked M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun: Increased clip size range to 75-150 from 60-100. still one clip in reserve, with matching adjustment. Improved vent durations, both active venting is now 3s, down from 4s and passive venting now 15s, down from 20s. Adjusted vent speed curves over thresholds and lowered the high threshold to 60%, down from 70%. Time scales of venting are now: low: 80% - high: 50% - critical: 25% (was 50% - 100% - 25%). Re-tuned vent damage to a player - it should be in the same ballpark but scale more aggressively, so lower overcharge gives less damage. Allow heavy-charged shots to continue after shooting through geometry. Entry and Exit both create explosions. Hoping ogryns count as "geometry"

-Fixed some issues where the Pox Hound could launch into the stratosphere. That's unfortunate. A lot of the fixes and buffs are really nice to see, and Power Sword got it's very justified nerf lol. I like that they took steps to make the Bolter swap less repetitive by adding in new animations for it, that's actually a pretty cool way to address an issue while keeping balance in mind.
