Awesome. I've only seen Meek's Cutoff, Certain Women, and First Cow, and loved all of them. Are here other movies all equally good?

I haven't seen everything she's directed but everything I have seen has been pretty good. I think River of Grass is the only one I found a bit weak but it's still an interesting watch since it is extremely a debut movie in some fascinating ways. Personally my favorite is Wendy and Lucy.

I love Florence Pugh and Molly Shannon, but that is counterbalanced by my distaste for Zach Braff. Apparently he wrote this after his parents and sister and some friends died, which is pretty sad and all, but I’m not convinced it turned him into a good writer.

Also the 2001 kids stuff reminds me of this great insta account Official Sad Beige. She narrates the new trend of sad beige stuff for kids in Werner Herzog's voice. It's great.

Incredibly good trailer. Piqued my interest in seeing more of what they're going to do, even as a 30-something year old dude who hasnt thought about Barbies in decades.

Also it is conclusive that Gosling is the only actor of his generation that is an actual movie star, right? I can't think of any other actors in that cohort who has that same energy.

The amazing thing to me about Gosling is how good his taste is. Anya Taylor-Joy is also showing signs of having impeccable taste in projects.

Her Peach is fantastic in Mario. It really stood out, I didn't know who voiced any of the characters when I first watched it and I thought at first it was Kristen Bell doing her best voice work ever.

I’m guessing there’s some kind of cruel twist in The Whale? I don’t trust Aronofsky after Mother!
I also have a large father that has hinged a lot of his hopes and dreams on my success in life so I’m already feeling too many feelings just from the trailer.

It's essentially the plot of The Wrestler, but instead of suicide via steroids and wrestling in pursuit of stardom, it's suicide by food in response to the death of his boyfriend. It also pretty openly portrays his body as grotesque and applies the same style from Requiem For A Dream's approach to addiction and drug use to scenes of him binge-eating (similarities to an earlier mention of My 600lb Life, as well re: disability gawking).

Hmm. It’s weird. I saw a bootleg trailer that was a totally different cut from this a couple days ago, that had, like, a bunch of scenes with Matt Damon. And it was a WAAAAAAY better trailer than this. It had stakes. It made me feel legit terrified. So I was surprised when this was the trailer that came out now. This trailer makes me feel…nothing, in comparison?

I wonder what if I saw the full trailer they’re saving for later, and this is the teaser? But the tweet I saw it on said it was on Way of Water. But Twitter is Twitter.

I wish I could find it, but I went back to the tweet where I saw it originally, and it’s been pulled.

I'm glad he's shifting away from trying to convince everyone that he knows how to vibe Michael Mann-style.

Nolan's a very clean nice director and all, but I don't think there's been a shot in a single one of this movies that made me go whoa. Maybe he's just not a showboat but goddamn it these are movies, hit me with something that looks beautiful.

Inception is built of shots that make you go whoa the first time you see them. The folding street, the corridor fight, the city in the ocean.

And then they stuck them all in the trailer.
