its the midi visualization of the theme to twin peaks: https://www.vulture.com/2017/05/twin-peaks-secrets.html

Lynch and Badalamenti were just as flabbergasted with the discovery, Hurley says. “I showed David the photo and I was like, ‘What does this look like to you?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, twin peaks. What about it?’” Hurley says. “And I told him what it was, and he just started shouting, ‘It’s cosmic! It’s cosmic! It’s cosmic!’

giant whoa

this one always touched me and i can't rewatch the show without the opening credits

quote:

Once his rendition of ‘Laura Palmer’s Theme’ is complete, he states: “David got up and gave me a big hug, he said ‘Angelo, that’s Twin Peaks’”. Speaking in a way in which the words of Lynch leap into vivid existence, Badalamenti continues in his recollection, adding, “I said, ‘OK David, I’ll go home and I’ll work on it’. He said, ‘Angelo, Don’t do a thing, and don’t change a single note. I see Twin Peaks”.

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
it's very popcorn-ey and nifty. I do think that a lot of the interpersonal drama stuff is just straight filler, i get that you gotta humanize the characters and put them in that sort of framing, but in an alt-history show it does feel like "lets hit 48 minutes, ok time for the space lesbians to get in a fight" or whatever. But still totally worth it, and its also a lot of fun to watch an episode of this and then an episode of the expanse each night and pretend its a prequel/sequel thing, lol

i mean, even discounting the one-off time travel episodes, if you count trek iv as a legitimate time period where Things Happen, the pair of shows has less temporal spread than star trek (expanse is ~2350, tng is ~2370)

Is this some special composition? I can't get this to match visually with the normal Twin Peaks theme, the peaks are way too tall

edit: nevermind, the horizontal scale threw me off, seems ok after all

my main memory of the books was that reading them was deeply unpleasurable, like the ideas were interesting but the whole series just dwelled on how miserable everyone was the whole way through

reviews I've seen say it's technically and cinematically polished but artistically derivative, which is exactly what the first one was like and I don't know why anyone expected anything else from cameron. I'll go see it, sure why not

tbh i doubt any movie critic in 2022 can tell what is real story, or artistically derivative, anymore.

classic case of pineapple derangement syndrome
every time i hear someone use the word 'avatar' i think of this guy from humboldt who told everyone to call him "avatar" because it meant "wise teacher" and he always wore this crystal on a little leather cord around his neck and after a year or so he started wearing it as a headband with the crystal as his third eye and then started using larger and larger crystals and the last time i saw him i swear that thing must have weighed a couple pounds. He'd had to get a stronger headband, like a tennis headband but leather. Thing was like the size of an 8 years olds fist.
