It's amazing no tech company built "Exactly Twitter but not on Twitter.com" as soon as Elon Musk bought it. I'm no tech mogul billionaire, but it would have been such a slam dunk. You could have hired a bunch of people Twitter fired to build it!

Twitter's value comes from having a lot of celebrities and journalists who are unlikely to move en masse to a new platform 2. Moderation is too hard and expensive when the product isn't making money hand over fist (YouTube makes several orders of magnitude more than Twitter) 3. Moderating speech means more scrutiny from governments, regulators, and legislators worldwide

It feels like a system designed around only really caring about interacting with one server (like 'literature' or 'botany' or 'new york' or whatever), which is already very silly, but also that server can just be full and then ??? ty for the extension link
