Elon saying be careful what you wish for is likely in reference to the "gently caress off" votes. He's definitely aiming to replace himself with someone much worse.

davecrazy posted:What would a Twitter bankruptcy even look like? Liquidation? No, there's still value there. A bunch of banks own its debt (led by Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, and Barclays). Usually when a buyout like this is done, the banks lend the money initially, but then seek to sell the debt to other investors immediately. Unfortunately for the banks in this case, their timing was terrible. After they agreed to lend Musk the money, inflation popped and interest rates started rising while the economic outlook started deteriorating. Long story short, they lent Musk the money at too low of an interest rate, and now no one else will take the debt off their hands because it pays too little for a deeply indebted company with risky prospects. So if Twitter goes bankrupt, a bunch of banks will own it, who will have no interest in running it, and will likely sell it off to the highest bidder. I'm guessing the likes of Microsoft and Google would make bids (I figure Facebook would face antitrust concerns, and wouldn't be an option). They'll buy it for a whole lot less than $44 billion, but at least the company won't be sitting under the shadow of a huge debt load post bankruptcy. This assumes that Musk walks away, which isn't exactly clear yet.

It's pretty amazing when you think about it how someone can take a company that was running decently well, albeit not consistently profitable they had runway to keep the lights on etc, and crater it completely in less than 2 months. After spending $44billion on it. Just staggering ineptitude. What a god drat clown, lmao.

The Christmas spirit is in the air as forum users bond and reminisce about what batshit stuff would go on a decade or two ago. All while warming themselves in the spiteful glee of seeing Elon Musk bring his own ruin upon himself.

Twitter going bankrupt and into weird operational proceedings was an early frontrunner for Twitter dying. But it's bullshit, I wanted the cool post mortems of how exactly a decade of infrastructure dies piecemeal from lack of maintenance and velocity of change asked if it.

Yeah agree there needs to be a trust in place so it can keep paying the bills on the electricity and network connectivity as it dies piece by piece and can be analyzed how a system falls apart eventually.. Musk'll appoint someone else as CEO, there'll be a flush of money from Kushner and friends to keep it afloat, everyone will go back to using it as normal except now there'll be a much more extreme right wing bent to the moderation and promotion of topics but people will pretend that's not the case. General global attitudes and narrative will still be disproportionately steered by Twitter due to it being treated as such a major source by news networks and everything will be shifted right even further than they were in the past and that'll just be how things are, because it just needs to be slightly less overt than what Musk was doing for it to generally fly under the radar.
