You're forgetting the 4 - 8 month period where Fatshark disappears from the face of the Earth while they try to make this thing run on Xbox series S, somehow

Same, the character icons etc straight up do not show up for me if another character is even remotely near the edge of my screen so I often have no clue where the gently caress my party members are.

I made a series of bad investments. Tarantula farm. The bottom fell out of the market.

So, the store. I hopped on just now and noticed it was 10:57. Queue a rush to check the shop on all my characters to double my chances at seeing something good. Got on my last guy and the shop refreshed while I was frantically glancing through it, saw a 370 green gun I wanted, then the shop auto refreshed.

This made me feel bad! I missed out. when I saw it was 10:57, I had a fear of missing out. And then I missed out.

I can already see the replies. I don't have to stress about items, I don't have to maximize my shop refreshes, I don't need to worry about stuff like that. Those arguments are missing the point. The shop is designed to operate this way, specifically, to engineer bad feelings in situations like this. I didn't feel bad because I have unhealthy expectations for the game - I felt bad because the shop is designed to make you feel bad, so you do what you can to avoid that feeling. Maybe think about Darktide a little more while you're not at the computer. Maybe think, oh, I'll log in even though I'm not going to play, to check the shops. I don't want to miss out! Pad out that engagement. Get more logins. Extend the loot treadmill. Occupy as much of the consumer's mind as you can, make sure they are thinking about your game.

I am not saying I need help emotionally protecting myself from the shop. I'm fine. But the shop design is disrespectful/hostile to the player and that rubs me the wrong way, idk. I know hating the store isn't new but I haven't seen people discuss this specific mechanism like this yet. I'm sure it's happened, I just haven't seen it.

Yeah we'll see but I'm not overly stoked on Fatshark doing a "live service" game when they have glacial development pace. Trying to do "live service" games has sunk developers with a lot more history, experience and resources than Fatshark (Anthem, Battleborn, BF 2042, etc.). Like it's been 2+ years and they haven't finished the DLC classes for VT2, I doubt very much something is going to change so that they can make DT a "live service" game with new maps, bosses, enemies and classes released on a regular basis. They can't even get a patch out the door w/o stepping on their own dicks seven different times:

- New map in the patch? Oh wait, technical issues, it's actually out later. Also, I haven't seen the new map offered in the mission board yet and it's been around 4 days.
- Thunder hammer changes? Whoops, we typed in Thunder Hammer on accident, those were actually changes for a different weapon.
- New and improved epilepsy-inducing visuals that we'll get around to removing later
- Finally fixed the hound shooting off into space. Oh wait, no we didn't lol

So, is Psyker still bugged and can't quell for afew seconds after hitting 100%? didn't see a note about it.

Also, how much of the last patch notes are still in the game? like 50%?

That was my impression as well: It's basically the Thunderhammer but even better for stunlocking entire hordes, including all of the Ragers and Crushers that might be within it. Doesn't do nearly as much single-target damage of course, but focusing down a singular target should never be a problem anyways.

I'm kind of on board with "drat Fatshark really is pretty Fatshark" at this point, even with Darktide being my first real Fatshark game.

But I like to give credit properly where it is due: you're conflating two different patch notes from the same patch together.

It was the heavy Sword buffs that were mislabeled as Eviscerator buffs, buffs which made it into the game on the right weapon. Which is separate from their patch notes about buffs to the Thunder Hammer which didn't actually make it into the patch, and they later mentioned hadn't made it in and would add it in at a future time.

Gotta make sure to account the gently caress ups properly so we can measure the levels of blasting Fatshark for being :fatshark: accurately.

I've been playing since VT1 and I'm just happy we have games like this, there really is nothing comparable.

Edit - Comparable maybe isn't the right word, but Fatshark has nailed the setting and actual combat mechanics/feel and it's just gotten better over the years. The constant bugs are almost endearing at this point.

Also, I feel they've always struggled with loot progression but if they make just a few changes DT will be the best yet.

Got a legendary dagger from an emperors gift on my zealot, with lacerate and +40% damage to weakspots on bleeding targets, and drat if it hasn't become my favourite weapon, screw the eviscerator and thunder hammer.

Hell on my index finger though.

why do all the thunder weapons have such a short time their charge stays active? you cant even get off a heavy attack if you dont do it immediately after hitting the button. the power sword stays active for much longer AND has a better effect so i dont get the balance requirement of such a bitchily brief window. just make the special attack be a charged swing if you want them to be chained immediately

I'd say left4dead is pretty dang comparable, considering about half of the specials are lifted directly from left4dead.

Tide games are just more tightly focused on a hard pve experience where as left4dead mainly focused on balance for pvp.

Bugs like the hound shooting off into space are a little endearing. Bugs like 3/4 of my regular squad crashing over the course of a single mission are not. I'm lucky enough to finally get into a stable-ish situation where I've finally stopped crashing multiple times every single run and am hovering around 1 crash per 2-3 hour play session, but it's conversely gotten worse for some of my friends. I think my biggest issue was the thing where RTX was being forced on regardless of what the settings menu said but the technical state of the game is still my number one barrier to enjoying it, with the crap monetization / FOMO / live service loot stuff as a close second. Again, I haven't been able to play the new map yet, nor have the new modifiers been offered to me on difficulties I actually play (hazard 2 or 3).

I've got a full-time job and relationships to maintain, I don't have time to log in to "check the store". Even the 25 mission weekly is pushing it for me - I could barely get it done if I win every mission and the game doesn't crash or magically not count my progress. But this stuff seems off-putting, even for the zero-lifers who already have 100+ hours in

I have one with 3 stacks of bleed on crit, 40% damage to weakspot on bleeding targets, and +5% melee crit chance. I'm running it with the laspistol and it's the most fun build I have in the game, even if it's quite a bit of work. Stab stab stabstabstabstabstabstabstabstab

Yep, that's almost same traits as on mine (just +3 bleed on non-weakspot hit instead of crit), and it's really fun! Honestly seems really good on heresy as well, had a much easier time than running either the hammer or the eviscerator so far.

Agreed. The names of the maps and weapons here are really poorly thought out. Psyker staffs aren't bad since they have unique names but looking at a wall of mk II versus mk VI versus mk XII guns is not fun.

The letters before the maps are confusing as hell. Just stick with 'Train Station' or whatever instead of ABBC-123123 mapname after all the other crap.

Ugghhh, I've been trying to craft a knife like this for weeks. I can get the bleed, and I can get the extra weak spot damage, but never both. The God-Emperor favors ye, kindred.

Honestly the dog mode sucks poo poo. They could've had it spawn more of almost any other enemy type and it would've been more interesting.

Wait did you mean grey item at 370? Greens need to be in the ~400 range for them to get max power, greys are 380, blues ~450, and purps ~500.

Of special note, with risk of fanning the flames of veteran envy:
Veteran gets doubled base crit chance of 10% everyone else 5%.
Veteran takes 100% more toughness damage while sprinting, Psyker takes 25% more.
Veteran replenishes more toughness in melee than the other characters.
Veteran has a longer stamina replenishment delay.
Each character has base stamina of 5, 4, 2 or 1, descending order Ogyn > Zealot > Veteran > Psyker.
When out of Stamina you sprint about 50% slower, Zealot and Ogyn sprint 25% slower.

That can show you every weapons base crit chance, so combat dagger has 15% base crit chance and a Zealot using one would have 20% crit and a veteran 25% crit.
Or useful info what all the keywords do or that melee hits do x2 toughness damage.
