you're supposed to wash the eggs off right before you use them. the natural protection you lose on washing lets you keep them at room temp instead of in the fridge

I lived in Croatia for half of 2020. I bought a dozen eggs a week at least. Yeah they had loose feathers and .... stuff on them. A hot quick wash before cracking them was never any really effort that my lazy rear end couldnt handle. Nothing different than we do now with our chickens at home.
