RD will insta-cache anything you watch so you can download it later if you want to keep it. the files are identical to what you get from Usenet and you pay for that too so I don't see a difference.

I downloaded Violent Night on my PC, copied it over to a flash drive, walked over to my TV, plugged the flash drive onto the back, and then watched it on the TV I'm sure Plex or whatever might make the copying and the walking unnecessary but it seems like a big investment in knowhow to figure it out compared to my current practice

He does it all on the day before his marriage, which he cancels because someone says her name (Sarah) while he's doing some normal business guy stuff in New York. speaking of goon youtube content did anyone else check out the mst3k video thats showing up in the banner ads i actually thought it was pretty on point i watched cry wilderness for turkey day a couple of years ago loved it watched it with someone else more recently and was surprised how little it held up then watched mac and me with another person and just went ehhh maybe netflix mst3k isnt for me the analysis is fairly decent the guy posits that the main problem with netflix mst3k is that it was run too much like a brand name and not like a sketch comedy troupe and the main problem this causes is that none of the characters have a distinct voice so which characters get which riff basically appears to be done at random and probably was done at random considering the sheer quantity of guest writers they had working on it the guy also claims that the new gizmoplex season of mst3k is a significant improvement in large part because the production is much better paced and explicitly calls out episode 1304 munchie as the thing you need to stop what youre doing and watch right this minute because it rules but alas the great firewall doesnt seem to like gizmoplex so i havent had a chance to check it out

watched Violent Night and it's the usual Straight-To-Streaming trash even if David Harbour and John Leguizamo have a few amazingly stupid lines the only good action scene is Santa vs Spec Ops which I'm sure was the elevator pitch for the whole thing, and probably shot separate before covid hosed up production. also the 'What if Home Alone was real' scene they stole wholesale from a viral video. as a film I'd recommend as an amazing case study of neolib thought where our rich protagonists are LITERAL WAR CRIMINALS who get off scott free for not personally committing violence despite bankrolling atrocities*, whereas the bad guys are punished for their sins of being born poor and striking back at rich assholes the only way they can *the fact they even include this detail means it might be commentary/parody but could also be a sincere vanity project by a Dupont heir something. it thats hard to tell Durf has issued a correction as of 09:59 on Dec 24, 2022 |

tbh its the most fun we've had in awhile getting drunk and yelling at a movie its like some coked out exec saw Knives Out and Ready or Not and thought, "what if the rich were good.... and SANTA?!?!" and class consciousness is a hot thing, so let's have Leguizamo chastise them for hiring The Help. WHO HE MURDERED IN THE PREVIOUS SCENE

mawarannahr posted:you have to pay money every month and waste time looking for rips and deal with copyright takedowns and buy hardware and configure some linux poo poo? is someone paying you to do this? It's only as complicated as you wanna make it. The guy buying tons of hardware and installing Linux and debrid and poo poo does it that way cause that's how he likes to do it. Myself, I pay $5 a month to Plex and $5 a month via PayPal to a reddit rando that runs accounts for hundreds of people, and I have access to every single tv show and movie I can think of with very little interaction from myself. There is no CSAMor whatever, nor is it hosted on my equipment at any point even if there were (my service actually blocks any porn). But hey if people prefer researching which company has your content available and seeing if they have a free trial and/or signing up for their service, and then having to remember to cancel it later in time, and jumping through whatever other hoops they want to set for you just to watch a show, I suppose that's as much of a niche hobby as fine-tuning a Linux server to run Plex, in its own way. I guess.

I guess. why does everybody act like this is such an onerous process it takes like five seconds to check justwatch to see who has what and another five seconds to go mess with the amazon prime subscriptions and most people have amazon prime unrelated to screening reasons anyway like i could get this attitude if it was just for the latest netflix trash but amazon subscriptions are for weird crap that tends to be a lot harder to source maybe your reddit buddy has rifftrax or documentaries from the great war people or the ministry of time but for me at least this is stuff that even assuming i could get it to work on my own machine at all without getting hosed by audio or subtitle options these are much smaller scale operations that actually need the money to begin with
