For what it's worth, that doesn't actually stop the breaker from tripping. It just makes it a pain in the rear end to turn it back on after it does.

Also those plugs usually have a tiny fuse in them, although I'm not 100 percent sure they protect a bunch of plugs attached that way instead of end to end.

The fuse is likely wired in after the passthrough connection, so it's only carrying the current for its string. If they were daisy chained it would carry the combined current

I count 15 plugs. Each of those strings of little twinkle lights is around 40 watts. That's only 600 watts on a circuit rated for 1500. C'mon son

i know utility chat was a page or two ago, but about three years ago the security guards at work noticed some dudes hand digging next to a wall on the back side of our building. this was 100% our property, not rented or leased or anything, owned outright, and no one ever asked or warned us of work. fun part is that they were looking for all the fiber coming into the building, which is the most important data center in the company. This was a contracted utility company and they were told to find the fiber cause the tracer wire wasn't working, nothing else. My employer was proper pissed and there were c level calls between us and the national telco who contracted the work out.... telco sent their own employees to resume work a few weeks later. point is you don't know who is doing the locate or what they were told to do. the contractors weren't at fault in the above cause they were given poo poo information, but i figure that's just par for the course

Typically the emergency stop will stop the arm in its current position. You don't really want it to automatically start moving somewhere else when you hit it, nor do you want it to stop taking the weight of whatever it's currently holding.

I think the norm is to have the area completely inaccessible to people unless you trigger a total shutdown of the blind sword swinging robot arms.

If not completely inaccessible then some sort of barrier showing a clear demarcation with signs saying "don't go past this point" for clear legal reasons. Basically "Beyond this point we can fire you with impunity/we're not liable for your stupid injuries".

Yeah I have seen several robot arms that stack bags on pallets. They have cages around them with IR beam sensors that shut it off if the beam gets broken. One robots I know will also back off a little and stop if it senses something in it's way instead of just trying to keep going and crush whatever is blocking it.
