The problem is that we do like popping heads. The second-to-second gameplay is fun. But I would very much like a wider variety of heads. This game has a whopping three environments - dank underground techruins, sandy sunny techruins, and shiny affluent techruins - and what, maybe a dozen enemies? There is one boss in this game. One. One single, solitary boss. For the entire loving game. ONE. And he's not even like a cool giant demon that you fight in space or a chaos marine or something, he's a nameless nerd in scrap armor with a gun that you fight in a literal loving train station.

e: I remember when I first did the data-interrogator minigame I was like: "well, that was sort of simplistic, but it's a neat idea to put in minigames like this, I wonder what other ones there are?" And when the VAs started taking about a daemonic infestation up ahead, I was like: "whoa, I bet this game has lots of cool gribbly Nurgle demons we get to fight in it, oh boy"

It might just be a damning indictment of the enemy variety in a lot of co-op shooters but it actually has a pretty decent variety compared to most with the elites and specialists and stuff, like obviously most of them are just various ways of dealing damage or splitting the group up that you have to pivot and kill asap but you can boil any game down to that ultimately. Some groups of nurglings swarming about, doing weird poo poo and cackling all the while would definitely liven things up though. They could be like little stabby fuckers but could also do stuff like swarm over grenades to nullify them or cover an enemy in like, nurgling armour to give them a buff of some kind.

How are you supposed to play Zealot with a Boltgun, what is the weapon's niche? It certainly packs a punch, but I don't feel like I'm very effective at taking out either specials or ranged enemies. Elites do go down fairly quickly, but then my Eviscerator kind of fills the same role.

Help me be a better Zealot

Use melee on hordes and stragglers, use the bolter on specials and elites

Here's a Damnation game I just played as Zealot with bolter and combat axe

which changes nothing about how any of the characters treat us. we're trusted but still completely disposable

You kill literally thousands of heretics as like four guys in this game. You were never playing as Some Guy and the story conceit that you are being completely at odds with the actual game being played turns the whole thing into farce.

Theres a version of this game thats like a martian magos, eldar aspect warrior, space marine, and ork wierdboy in a shaky and incredibly unlikely teamup, and honestly the more i think about it the more id probably have enjoyed that as much if not more than the grounded aesthetic they gave it. More bouncing off of eachother and vastly different outlooks of situations between the characters, much more variety of exclusive equipment between classes, and the scale of the path of destruction we carve would still fit as well.

Nah that’s just 40k. It’s all a giant power fantasy where everyone kills a bajillion and one brain dead chaos goons before getting got in a blaze of glory. There’s a spot in one of the Gaunts books where a 15 year old girl picks up a las pistol and goes loud on a bunch of chaos infantry and drops like two dozen of them.

Basically if you’re a viewpoint character in 40k you have meter-thick plot armor and will murder tens of thousands of the enemy with a rusty spoon. If you aren’t you’ll get your brains spattered on the wall by the first poxwalker that sees you.

yes, that's canonically what the Emperor's Blessing does for you. it is actually and literally a thing in this universe. you can still be Some Guy but if you're given the thumbs up by the Big E through one of his agents, then you're running hot despite being a faceless nobody. this is how the imperium's psychic gestalt works and has always worked. it's where living saints come from. if you're an ork it's where the waaaagh comes from. it's where a lord general's retinue gets all of their BS and WS from and it is not a new idea.

This would be amazing. The characterization in this game is so weak. The idea of doing the same stuff but with four distinct and fleshed-out personalities is attractive and I'm bummed they didn't keep thay from VT2

Fatshark is weird with it's updates, they hype up the paid winds of magic expansion for vermintide for months and it was a big wet flop with a unplayed game mode and splitting the hardest difficulty into only people who own it and untested annoying enemy types that all got nerfed eventually, then chaos wastes comes out of nowhere with no fanfare for free and is one of the most played and praised modes in the game.

That PvP mode for vermintide will probably come out one day with like a week of heads up after nothing being heard about it since the trailer.

For emperors gift items at the end of some missions, is the quality tied to mission difficulty at all or just character level?

I've seen claims that it's based on the quality of your equipped gear, but when I'm playing a level 30 character, I get a mix of orange & purple gifts seemingly independent of whether my gear is all orange or a mix of blue/purple. And that's regardless of whether I'm doing difficulty lvl 4/5 runs for fun, or lvl 2 runs for to meet my weekly scrip contract.

Edit: so I'd lean toward character level

Dang, that's near ideal except for the v. Carapace roll; IIRC even the Agripinaa, hard as it hits, still doesn't punch through Carapace well.

I haven't managed to get two 25% perks on any 350+ weapon yet, and IIRC the re-rolled perk was 20% against Unarmored before. Emperor previously rewarded me with a Transcendent Agripinaa that had 7m Terrifying Barrage radius, but "only" 357 base and crap mobility, so I switched. Clip feels a little small at times, but it pops heads very effectively.

But definitely stick with Unyielding, then?
