Yeah wow that's amazing. Maybe replace the specialist with 5% crit for more synergy? I'm pretty sure specialists are units that spawn in like the tox flamer and bomber which the bolter deletes anyways

You want the Shattering Impact blessing on a bolter since that straight up halves the amount of shots needed to kill Crushers.
And also don't crouch I think? There seems to be a bug where crouching causes certain weapons to become less accurate instead of the other way around. :fatshark: It's most noticeable on infantry autoguns, but bolters suffer from that too if the crosshair widening when you crouch is accurate.

Making the crafting grind suck and then spreading out the ingredients all over the map was a poor decision, that's for sure.

Everyone was doing this platsteel farm/speedrun/scatter thing on difficulty 2 before. I think now that the collective level is higher people are doing it on Malice now.

Remove the crafting grind. FS really wants people to dig through the levels for stuff, what with random grim/scripture spawns and crafting. I don't really know why. You're already using the level for ammo and health items, and you're exploring it to flank enemies. Just give crafting mats for successful completion of the maps.

the ogryn machinegun is amazing for killing massive hordes or just mass CCing groups of shotgunners or charging hounds or plague bursters. you get enough ammo to run it pretty continuously and it does a ton of damage up close. its main weakness vs the grenade gauntlet is its reduced armor penetration, but when I bring the machinegun i usually bring a more single targetty melee weapon

also if you choose the bleed talent on heavy attack you can make people bleed to death by hitting them with a gun over and over, bc the machinegun special bash counts as a heavy attack

Yeah, there has to be a little bit of everything. I don't want to grind mats at difficulty 2. But I do want to get mats. But I don't want to spend all game looking for them. And I do want to be aggressive, because it's fun. But I don't want to be constantly charging into poo poo without a breath.

I just tried it out on my Ogryn because there was one in the shop and I hadn't used one since early levels, and dang yeah that feels good and redefines the concept of a machine gun 'mowing down' enemies.

Also love how, much like the braced autoguns, it's nearly pinpoint accurate on the first couple shots in a burst, so you can snipe things with it by bracing and then just clicking lmb quickly to fire 2-3 round bursts.

bolter's a really good gun. they also modelled pretty effectively the feeling of you handling a weapon that's a bit too big for you, it's just sluggish to draw, and takes adjustment to get used to shooting. if it doesn't work for you, that's fine, there seems to be a pretty huge diversity of opinion on weapons here, but scoping and one shotting a sniper or mag dumping and killing two or three maulers is more than most other ranged weapons can do

it's slow to draw and pretty inaccurate at medium+ range, I have trouble hitting anything with it unless it's pretty close

The bolter is slow to draw and feels clunky, but there's no feeling like mag dumping into a horde, crusher, or monstrosity.

As for me, shock maul + bolter is really working for me. Being able to delete specialist and elites at range is a great complement to being able to wipe out a horde. Oh look, a sniper so far away he hasn't proc'd yet. *blap*

It’s a super accurate rail gun that blows through light cover, like the gun from that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. If you were struggling with accuracy, either you had the suppressed debuff and didn’t realize it or the problem wasn’t with the gun.

if youve ever tried to shoot a gun while crouching it makes sense, your muscles end up shaking a lot. theres some crouched shooting positions that are very stable but theyre not very mobile ones usually.

so i can see the thinking but also like, its a warhammer game and everyone probably has future robo muscles or some poo poo. its a really weird place to choose to be realistic, and everyone is used to crouch making shooting more accurate in games. strange, strange choice.

380 is the maximum modifier total right? How does this new Recon Las I just picked up look compared to what I run currently? I feel like I'd need to change my playstyle for the current Punishing Salvo blessing, fire in bursts and let my sway reset before firing again. +20 against infested doesn't seem to let me one-shot walkers on center-mass so doesn't seem to do much for me.

So I ended up buying Vermintide 2 because of how much I enjoy Darktide (give DT some more time in the oven). Any newbie advice on weapons to shoot for etc? I also got the grail knight and the sister of the thorn because they seemed cool (may get the warrior priest for $2 before the sale ends too).

The whole 'log in and check the store' gameplay thing is just not doing a lot for me.

If you like Kruber the DLC that gives him a shield and spear (Winds of Magic, I think?) is worth it. Fun weapon with good hordeclear, and on Merc it's incredibly fun and tanky without losing a lot of elite killing power. Plus that stab-from-shield special is sweet.

Halberd is good but will require some practice to get the patterns muscle-memoried, but it's a very versatile weapon.

What's even more bizarre is that it only happens on a couple weapons but then on other ones it works like you expect, and there's no rhyme or reason as to why. Like sure maybe on the bolter it's realistic or whatever but then the revolver suffers from it too :psyduck:

edit: Now that I'm testing it out in the psykhanium it's even more random than I thought: sometimes it only seems to affect hipfiring, sometimes it affects ADS (which is extremely noticeable on infantry autoguns), but the bolter doesn't seem too bad when ADS'ing while crouched.

WoM gives Kruber a 2-handed spear sans shield I'm pretty sure, but that's also a really fun and solid weapon.

I think a lot of people didn't like the gamemode and new enemies (beastmen) it added, so that would be why. Personally I just avoided those two features and treated it as a small weapon pack, since it added two of my favorites (the aforementioned 2-handed spear for Kruber and a billhook for Saltzpyre) Definitely only get it at a steep discount if you get it just for the weapons though.

Time to call it a night.
After hitting 30 on a veteran and now getting gear consecrated I’ve been able to play higher difficulties and find them much more enjoyable. It is very odd that lvl3 missions I would always find myself needing to use each med station but once I bumped it up to 4 I needed to less. I’ll look at everyone’s heath and they’re low and suffering from corruption and I’m sitting pretty with maybe 5 hp missing.

Regardless, the higher difficulty games are more enjoyable but they are still plagued with bad players. I’m no pro but it is crazy how people will run off into hordes instead of waiting for them to come to them

Kruber spear + shield is Forgotten Relics, so if OP bought everything except Winds of Magic it should be unlocked for him already.

Kruber doesn't have a huge selection of ranged weapons but I'd go with the handgun if you're just starting out. Use it to kill elites and specials.
