Excited for Vinland Saga S2, Kaina of the Great Snow, The Fire Hunter, and NieR:Automata. Might check out Spy Classroom, High Card, and Bofuri S2 (need to watch S1 first).

And honestly, a revenge power fantasy against the Dark Lord and his evil armies seems a little more palatable than some alternatives.

vinland saga will probably be the only thing I watch weekly. want to watch inspect/re season 2 but only once it's all out. trigun and nier are wait and see. looking a bit thin as expected. apropos of nothing the kiseki anime reminds me that I want to play TiTS (heh) 1 that I've had laying around for 5 years untouched. so there's that at least. also, symbolic posted:i just noticed the Horror tag lol lol

There's also another "Fired from [______] but went on to become a hero" fantasy series where there's a bunch of characters who got fired from various different places who decide to team up together, which I guess is a logical progression of the genreJulias posted:Ningen Fushin no Boukensha-tachi ga Sekai wo Sukuu you desu (Ningen Fushin: Adventurers Who Don't Believe in Humanity Will Save the World)

Okay I'm actually intrigued by that one because of the getting wasted together in a bar being the inciting incident of a really stupid idea.

I have high hopes for Endo and Kobayashi. The manga had some great delivery of the jokes. So long as the anime tries to adapt the concept and rough plot, it should be great. If they try to 1:1 the scenes it's gonna be terrible.

I've made these picks for the season: Ayakashi Triangle: It looks supremely stupid, and it's ecchi but it could be so stupid it goes out the other end into funny. At least there's a cat. Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku: This looks kinda chill, and the first few chapters of the manga were entertaining, so I'm hoping the show is as well. Buddy Daddies: "The Odd Couple" meets "Three Men & A Baby," passing through "Leon: The Professional" to get there. It's PA Works, and after their stellar work last year, I'll try anything weird they put up. NieR:Automata Ver1.1a: I've no idea how this will end up, but I'm going to at least give it a chance. Oniichan wa Oshimai! (Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!) Another of the "This looks incredibly dumb, but cute" class of shows I sometimes like. It doesn't have an ecchi tag, despite the plotline, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-manmai no Kinka wo Tamemasu (Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement): Another curiosity, another isekai, and another show I'll give a shot. Spy Kyoushitsu (Spy Classroom): With the runaway success of "SPY x FAMILY," I think it's obvious we'll be seeing a whole slew of "wacky spy antics" shows over the next couple of years trying to hang on it's coattails. I think this show and "Buddy Daddies" may be the early wave. Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi (Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill): This one's just plain silly, and I love me some food porn, so I'll be watching this while having supper. Trigun Stampede: My #1 interest this season. I never saw the original series, and when I heard it messed up the ending I figured I'll just watch this and hope they don't make the same mistake. The animation from Studio Orange looks fantastic. Leftovers from Fall Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow) Urusei Yatsura (2022) OVA Aggressive Retsuko Season 5: The final season for the series, and I want to see how things resolve for our heavy metal heroine. Toutotsu ni Egypt Shin 2 (Suddenly, Egyptian Gods): I enjoyed the first season of this, so I'm really looking forward to the second. As for the rest, there's a lot of 2nd (or more) seasons of shows I never watched the first one of, so those are all skipped. One or two shows that are "I'm going to annoy you into loving me," and a few shows that actually look good, but are not my speed. [Ars no Kyojuu and Koori Zokusei Danshi to Cool na Douryou Joshi in particular). Then there's the usual sports & idol shows, more of the "rejected party members become OP" stories, and a ton of what look like generic fantasy series, with and without Truck-kun's help. But there's a couple shows I just have to comment on... HIGH CARD: a.k.a. "Cardcaptor Yakuza." Isekai Nonbiri Nouka (Farming Life in Another World): Who the hell is sponsoring all these farming fantasy shows, Monsanto? And if your produce is blessed by the gods, does that keep it from being GMO? Technoroid: Overmind - If you sing the title to the first bars of "Jesus Christ: Superstar," it scans! Sugar Apple Fairy Tale: "Fantasy slavery's kinda okay!" Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta. (My Life as Inukai-san's Dog.): a.k.a. "I Can't Believe It's Not Bestiality!" starring Molesty the Dog. I have no idea what will be the best of the season, but I'm damned sure I know what will be worst.

Watch OG Trigun whoever told you they messed up the ending is crazy. Yes it's different than the manga but it's a good ending that encapsulates the story just fine. I'll be more curious about Stampede because my girl Milly is MIA and that better change before the first cour ends.

And this new anime is doing it's own thing too, so it doesn't matter that the older series diverged from the manga.

you can't really always encapsulate an insanely loving long manga in a 26 episode anime. even that episode count gets pretty long for an adaptation, at some point you have to accept arranging stuff in specific ways so that the show can work as a narrative and not literally function as nothing but an advertisement for a manga it could never possibly adapt in full in a way everyone would be satisfied with the same thing happened with blood blockade battlefront so they made a season 2 that entirely was just adapting manga stuff that the first season didn't get to. and it was like. fine. but being more of just a collection of episodes with little deeper connective tissue meant it didn't really have any punch or style to it at all the way the first season did
