The default one actually has ipod support but with my old classic it'd have a 60% chance of playing songs at 80% speed and need a reboot to fix it

Can confirm the built in ford head units are total dogshit. The old 2015 ford ranger i had was so bad i immediately got a new one when i was on the carers payment and my dad has a 2022 territory and its basically unchanged except the touch screen is actually a bit improved from the unresponsive piece of poo poo

For some reason the head unit in my ignis can have a dvd player hooked up to it via rca cables if i pull it out of the dash

Just got the second police alert SMS I've ever had. 3 year old boy found wandering in his PJs 3 hours ago near a busy road. It's hard to imagine any good reason why no-one has reported him missing.

I have a pioneer head unit w/ wireless android/apple and it's extremely annoying for a few reasons: - cost $800 - makes you hit OK on a waiver screen telling you it's dangerous to use it while driving. Every boot. Also instructions for bypassing The on screen keyboard lockout and YouTube while in gear are on page 5 of the manual. - has a cpu in it from probably 20years ago based on its performance - boots up to the pioneer head unit OS instead of launching CarPlay automatically every time WHICH IS THE WHOLE loving REASON SOMEONE WOULD DROP $800 ON A HEAD UNIT THAT ADVERTISES WIRELESS CARPLAY IT AS ITS PRIMARY FEATURE, PIONEER. - stopped getting software updates the day they announced new models that are identical in spec and miraculously now can boot to CarPlay! - using wifi as the connection means toll gates and anywhere with a high density of 2.4ghz causes it to drop out. Smart carparks with the free space sensors totally gently caress it. BUT it sounds real good (as CarPlay can support up to CD quality audio and the unit has FLAC support) and it's good putting Siri to work where it's most useful. I'm also trying to find a decent minidisc head unit for my eventual camper van/panel van setup. Wanted one with Bluetooth too, but I think MD was on the way out by the time Bt audio was worth a drat

I think I rememeber Cricket 97 on pc. There was deffo one around that era where you could press the spacebar to "Howzat". Eventually, I figured out that there was no limits to the amount of time you could press the button. I guess there was a small random chance that the umpire would declare an out, because you could just hold the space button down until the umpire declared somebody out.

I think it got given away in a cereal box at some point too. We had it installed on the Win95 box in my year 5 classroom and everyone would always spam howzat endlessly

There was a SNES cricket game with that same howzat effect. Drove my cousin absolutely nuts since it was his game/system and I was the one who found that exploit which I then relentlessly used against him.
