We had a "special weather warning" this morning and another just now. It rained most of the day and when it does, I usually put on a warm coat and maybe take an umbrella to run get my lunch. But not today, storm; not today! I wondered how wet I would get going three blocks to pick up lunch (in a water resistant bag, of course) and the answer was: Very. Very very wet. Wind blowing the rain sideways, with hail and thunder and lightening; it was glorious! One of the local homeless cordially asked me why I didn't have an umbrella and I told her and she said, "I hear ya, sister. Beautiful chaos!".  So I gave her money to buy a small umbrella at the Walgreen's. She picked a green one, very bright and easily decorated. Everywhere, everyone is red and green |

I have to get my visa renewal going and I'm giving myself a heart attack because I thought the company I work for was supposed to take care of it. I could have (technically) submitted paperwork on January 31st but let's be real. I'm kicking myself over not getting it done sooner but I do need info from my company, and there's no way in hell they would have had that together by then. It'll be fine but ugh I hate this poo poo.

bad news: dealing with minor flooding in my apartment for the last few days good news: none of our stuff has been or will be damaged, landlord has been quick to respond with a shop vac, also he has called a plumber my landlord is on the least-parasitic end of the scale imo, rent is low and he's quick to respond to issues and other than that leaves us alone. occasionally has to ask us to flip a breaker, or to come in and change the furnace filter definitely helps that he's renting out a finished basement of the house he lives in instead of just being a parasite who owns some building somewhere
