Well 2 years ago would be 2021 and yeah even though I feel like if it went public would of heard about it, like there were a lot of times in 2021 where I swear a country could of been completely wiped out be a comet and it would of only made the front page of most paper for a day at most. Just so much important news was happening so quickly stories got lost all the time. So I wouldn't 100% be surprised if it was a story but just everyone missed it with everything else happening.

There's a pretty big difference between "this wasn't widely reported" and "this was never made public." Like this is the first time anyone is hearing the story, as far as I can tell, usually someone'd have dredged up the original article by now if it's just news people ignored.

I'm not suggesting it was reported and people missed it, more that there was so much else going on that something like this that wasn't particularly public fell through the media cracks. It happens.

reminds me of someone making a quip about the George Santos Lying saga, turns out when local news orgs die or get bought up by mega corps (and then get killed) turns out there's no more leather gumshoe street level stuff. like there's no more just fishing the court house or local PDs everyday for anything interesting.

Rick and Morty is an entertaining cartoon (for the first 3 seasons) that seems to attract people who think that it's super clever and that Rick, a loving sad rear end in a top hat, is the good guy. It's like any cartoon that gets too popular, it attracts weirdos and creeps.

Basically everybody under 30 around told me for years that I absolutely need to watch Rick and Morty and that it's literally the single funniest cartoon ever made and then I finally watched it and it was annoying and ugly as poo poo. I physically cannot stand looking at the characters in the show because they all have those weird scribble pupils that look like a cat's rear end in a top hat and once I noticed that it was extremely distracting

And nerds want to be like him.

The dem guy got nominated super late, and then all the dem funding got pulled into governor and senate races to resist the fake "red wave". Which itself was an artifact of 538 being complete poo poo.

The problem I have with it is that it was good to begin with, in a fairly shallow "funny silly scifi drunk man" way, then with "character development" just got more and more into "Rick is so depressed, let's explore that", but in a kind of boring drama way to put into a "cartoon which is attempting to parody characters from Back to the Future". Roiland's other show "Solar Opposites" has the same problem, where it's about aliens just doing zany scifi stuff then extremely boring B plots about humans the alien kids shrunk down and live in a horrible society in the bedroom wall. It's like he thinks he's significantly better at the writing/producing/creation of these shows than he actually is.

The redistricting is a big part of it, but it was a neutral map rather than the dem gerrymander one. New York also has a lot of circular firing squad stuff between the leftist and shitlib wings of the party, and this year they couldn't pick between "tough on crime" or "tax the rich". But also, dems got scared that the governor race was in contention due to crap polls and spent money on "more important" races.
