There was a recipe for a pizza spaghetti cake on Dr. Oetker's website. A popular frozen pizza brand in europe.

A small slice of deep fried pizza, sure. But I've heard the ones that get fried in Scotland as street food are usually the cheap, lovely frozen variety, so I'll pass.

Those fries could use a little more time, too.

I had a slice of deep fried pizza from a food stands once, just to see what it was like. I don't know where the pizza itself came from but it was better than frozen, still, it was the kind of thing where the first bite tastes awesome and then you're ready to throw it away after three bites because it's just way too much.

It is the cheap lovely frozen variety but its really good especially after a half dozen beers. It's crunchy and salty and cheesy, wonderful.

And the slightly soggy chippy fries should have salt and vinegar on them, so they're also good. But I'd probably get chips and curry if the chippy offers it.

I genuinely don't get the obsession with deep fried food there. It's legitimately one of my favourite places in the world, but having tried various deep fried whatevers all over that great country, they always manage to taste of an extremely lovely nothing at all.

Yeah all of the deep fried stuff in the UK looks extremely plain and bland. It's like there is one batter available for deep frying everything and you can only get it at one place.

Even their fish and chips look lovely. :(

Fish and chips is very much an itch that occasionally needs to be scratched imo. It's a nice thing to have when you're in the mood and, most importantly, the chip shop is good but many times you end up with crap non-descript white fish and a congealed lump of greasy potato chunks, all of which tastes like the cardboard and paper it's served in.

The last time I had it was when I flew my girlfriend back from the Cayman Islands and she was craving a home comfort. Whenever I go visit her there, I always think 'why the gently caress would you eat fish and chips when you have the most delicious, fresh fish right here all the time??'

Well, in Wisconsin the Friday Fish Fry is a huge thing that you can get at just about any restaurant or bar that exists here. We have a big Catholic population. It's very similar, just different fish/sides sometimes. Sure there are some bad ones but it's not just everything on the plate that's exactly the same color. I'm not exactly sure what type of fish you guys use but the main ones we have are cod, perch, and walleye. Sometimes a panfish like bluegill or catfish if you're (I'm) lucky.

When I google "British fish and chips," most of them look like this:

When I google "Wisconsin friday fish fry" you get this:

However, we do serve it with different stuff. It almost always comes with tartar sauce, rye bread, butter, and coleslaw, and then you can get maybe fries or my favorite potato pancakes." I do admit though that I might be a bit spoiled.

Yeah it's like a 50% chance if they'll have it or not. It's not very popular here but a lot of places still have it on hand.

I get a lot of lemons and just douse it.

i grew up with long john silver's as the standard for fish & chips and all that taught me is that malt vinegar is really good on various textures of bland but crispy bits in various shapes (hush puppy, fish, crud)

All the fish and chips i've had in England were very firm from the large amount of batter. It is mostly finger food you eat out of a rolled-up paper. Some places did have absolutely gigantic gently caress off fried fish served on a plate to be doused in malt vinegar. In WI the fish fries they're usually lightly battered or baked and eaten with silverware and lemon w/ a side of tartar. The fish tastes the same to me in both. I can't say I've ever had a bad fish fry or a bad fish n chips.

Like this place is definitely in my top 3 in my state:
https://www.grimaldispizzeria.com/

And it's pretty much the same thing but with better lighting:

Or you got this place which is the hip, high-end gourmet pizzeria that's inside a quaint old converted house that everyone in downtown phoenix loves
https://www.cibophoenix.com/

And their pizzas look even worse but similar:

And they're pretty good.
