One trick I've come across is that you can keep a full suit of power armor components and only use 10 lbs of space if you equip them to a frame and store that instead of the individual pieces. You're limited to one of each slot, but it effectively makes each piece as little as 2 lbs.

Of course that's assuming the tooltip on the power armor frame is correct.

Yeah, that's Bethesda logic for you. A single PA piece is ~20. A frame is 10. Shove the piece on the frame and it literally becomes weightless. This is why a sane person has at least 1 or 2 PA frames in their inventory just to put the scrip on you find while you are out and about murdering mobs.

Also, name your frames. T-65, Hellcat, Scrip 1, Scrip 2, and so on.

The best part about that was finding out that a deep pocketed anything could give you infinite carry capacity by equipping/unequipping it really quickly, so your stash was basically all scrap so you didn't lose it.

Anyone know why the Nuclear Winter rewards (statues and trophies) aren't turning up for camp building? Can't even move the drat things around in my camp anymore. Can't blueprint them either.

The pennants still come up, but those are wall decor, not floor.

The events in this game would probably be a lot more fun without all the explosive miniguns walking around. I feel useful with this shotgun build in small groups because I can reliably cripple enemies, but it doesn't matter when there are weapons that obliterate even the toughest opponents in seconds.

I'm glad they do these events because I never to the "do daily ops" quests and wish they didn't focus so much on them.

Also, when they run the double gold bullion event, that just means the vendor has more to give out those days, right? You still get the same bullion totals?

DOs are fun if you play with people who know what they do. Try running them with one of us. ;)

As for Gold, Double Gold means you can turn in double the amount of T-Notes. Daily normal limit is 400 Gold (40 T-Notes), double is 800 (80 T-Notes). It does not double the amount you get as rewards from dailies or whatnot else.

Yeah Daily Ops are really fun if you have 1-2 people who know what they're doing.

I think the only one that won't work for events is the armor piercing standard modifier from Decryption. I can barely get a team together when that's a DO modifier so I can't imagine that one to be fun during ANY event. I mean, I just solo it when no one hops on but big events? Nah. lol

Decided to try this shotgun build on a Pitt mission to bang out a weekly. Imagine my surprise when trogs don't get staggered or crippled just like they ignored stealth when I was playing stealth commando. These things are just annoying bullet sponges.

e: I guess they stagger a bit, they just recover faster than most creatures. I have yet to cripple one, though.

Also the flaming dual bar chainsaw that I have exactly zero perks to augment destroys everything in the Pitt, so everything turned out okay?

Fallout 76 does have pretty nice scenery. It actually encourages you to take selfies with some of the setpieces with certain quests. I like the loading screen scrapbook feature. I've snapped some dumb shots riding things in peoples camps and using the face cutouts at Nuka World that give me a chuckle when they pop up.

At the risk of asking the fluffiest question ever or sounding like a YouTube thumbail, is Fallout 76 worth it to jump into fresh in 2023?

I'm really jonesing for some Fallout right now but not sure which to go with. Outside of what feels like a billionth replay of New Vegas, properly diving into FO76 seems like my best option at this point. There seems to be a bit of a consensus that it might actually be Bethesda's best Fallout map and narrative, is that fair to say?

I like Fo76's narrative because it's the only Bethesda game where the "random person becomes a god at everything" makes sense (you're from a vault full of geniuses) and the actual goal of the game is "go out and build poo poo and kill things" while everything else is secondary.

Yeah you don't get the "see how all of your choices add up in the end" kind of thing like New Vegas but it's not that kind of game and not supposed to be

I picked FO76 up for the first time after a fairly long track record of complaining about the design decisions at release and I can say for me the weirdness introduced by multiplayer wasn't as bad as I thought. In terms of unwanted PVP/griefing, I've had a camp nuked one time and I was already planning to log off and it never even touched down. Pacifist mode pretty much takes care of the rest.

I like the world and the story wasn't bad compared to Fallout 4, though I can see hints of how empty it may have felt on launch when playing some of the older quests that did not involve NPC's. You can only find so many corpses holding holotape journals, ya know?

I have to say, despite the .50 cal eating tons of ammo, heavy weapons and power armor are easily the most powerful options in the game. I've played pistols, stealth sniper, stealth commando, shotgunner and now heavy weapons and it feels like easy mode by comparison. If you happen to get the ammo points converter, I've found converting the excess steel scrap I get from scrapping weapons into railway spikes and feeding them into the converter is a great way to keep stocked up. Then again, I also picked up the ammo smith perk and leveled the ammo factory legendary a couple times.

Anyway, its a safe recommend for me. I've had a lot of fun.

PA is easy mode. Like, with the right legendary pieces and perks you can literally idle in front of the Queen, INSIDE a nuke zone, and not die once.

I have a full set of Overeaters T-65 and I somehow never play in it for very long. A week, maybe, after that it's back to embrace the truly overpowered playstyle.

Unyielding and a Quad Railway Rifle. The louder the better because, much like in Hitman, let your victims come to you instead of hunting them down. :colbert:

The RR is also the weapon of choice to farm for ammo converter points. Any DO (minus the Melee ones) or journey into the Pitt means I come out with 600-1000 more spikes than I had when I went in.

As for ammo scarcity, this is only true for the first 50 levels. Maybe up until 100. After that? Nah. Mod all your weapons with Prime Receivers, fling a nuke every now and again, slot in Ammosmith, Ammo Factory and Super Duper before you craft Gunpowder and Ammo, done.

This is especially true for .50 and 5mm. It's cheap and high yield. Ultracite .50 or 5mm are 900 rounds per craft with Ammosmith 2 and Ammo Factory 4.

The only weapon that's harder to keep fed is the LMG and even that becomes a non issue after a certain level. These days, when I need a certain amount of ammo for whatever and don't want to craft it myself I just run an Expedition with a RR, feed the excess into the Ammo Converter afterwards and I'm set again.

As for the game itself, it's great now. It's not perfect and probably never will be but it's definitely worth a revisit or even a first look.

I enjoy 76, but I find it's more enjoyable with a friend or two.

Speaking of friends/social, it can't be stressed enough, even if you play solo all the drat time, join a public team to reap the benefits. Worth it for the team buff/benefits alone, and any shared perk cards only sweeten the deal. Hardly anyone uses chat or expects anything of you (unless in a daily ops team, but you'll have joined/created that purposefully.)

On PA, I've never run a power armour build. The Secret Service set I built gets me through fine day-to-day (with the Chinese Steath Armour for rad protection when necessary). Plus then I have more Dolly-dress-up options for my dude, who currently looks like a Santa Claus on Hawaiian holiday.

Some of the new events are fun, and I've found most of the new content quite good, if a bit repetitive after you've been playing a good while. The scoreboard keeps me interested in doing stuff.

And it's always fun to shred scorched with my two-shot gauss lovely.

It'a available all the time BUT you need to be at Allied reputation with the Settlers. Samuel sells it if you are. If you're not and don't want to grind out the faction rep you'll have to wait until Minerva has the plan in stock again.

Hell, that's good to know. I think I'm currently neighborly and never finished the vault 76 quest because i wasn't clear on whether it shut me out of anything with the Raiders. I ended up buying the ammo converter from the atom shop since I had some points accrued and didn't want to grind raider reputation.

Finishing the quest does not shut you out of anything, all it means is that you need to grind more for one of the sides. It's better to ally with the settlers since the Raider faction glitch still works, as far as I know. If you get a daily from Rocksy, do it, return to her to turn it in, select "Appalachia has a new corpse" and immediately back out of the conversation. You should get rep. Talk to her again, select the same option again, back out. Repeat until you fall asleep. Note that it's been somewhat fixed as in you can't use the "new corpse" part if it's a Lie because you chose to let them live.

Also, every time I go do the daily for Ward I take his pencil. He's not only a liar who does nothing but sit around, he's also still broken after all these years. So I continue to break him by stealing his pencil. :argh:

Not sure if they changed it in a patch because it's been easily a year since I last tried a Gauss shotty but it only really worked with Demo Expert and VATS, otherwise you needed 3 or more shots for a simple mutie. And the firerate was, in typical Bethesda fashion, somehow much faster in third person.

Yeah, for truly effective gauss usage you really have to be perked for vats. Mine replenishes my crit meter 15 percent faster and does 50 percent crit damage, so very vats dependant. But it's satisfying strolling though WestTec like a one man death machine.

But boy do you want all kinds of butressed explosive protection, as it's easy to hurt yourself pretty bad with explosive splash damage as close range.
And yeah, for some reason 3rd person shooting is faster. Fallout gonna Fallout.
