Missed Lamar chat but I didn't want to deprive you all of my golden take. Lamar is great and the Ravens reported offer was a good one. Watson's contract is what has hosed everything up. I don't see how Baltimore could build a contender around Lamar while paying him that much or more in guaranteed money. They need WRs. Well they've been drafting them and that hasn't worked out. You can just keep swinging in the draft but with a record breaking deal for Lamar you can't pay market rate for a #1WR.

The Ravens should be listening to trade offers. 4 1sts with one of them a guaranteed top 10 pick makes sense. Especially since that guarantees Lamar a huge contract with his new team and that drives up the costs on Burrow, Herbert, and Lawrence. If you get lucky and land a rookie QB worth a poo poo you have a new window to operate in. Though that depends on how they view this QB class. Anything less than that 4 1sts offer make him play the franchise and see what happens.

The WRs we've drafted haven't worked out for the entirety of the Ravens existence. This is because we put them in position to fail. Examination of Roman's offensive play design has shown this and it goes back further before him. Remember players in Cameron's offense complaining namely TJ Houshmandzadeh. And Boldin didn't complain but his numbers in Baltimore were very much below what he was doing in Arizona and he didn't have amazing QBs there for the most part. So we drop Cameron and let Jim Caldwell call the plays and lo and behold Boldin turns back into a monster and him and Flacco carry us to the SB. We gave Flacco a ton of money. What did we do with Boldin? Dump him off at a firesale price of a 6th round pick.

It is very clear this organization has some issue with the WR position. Like they only want to use them a certain amount, or something and never pay them huge deals. That's why we traded for Terrell Owens in 2004 because we would have had a top class WR for 3 years 17 million but TO fought to get the trade voided because Philadelphia was willing to pay him big money.

The thing is I'm ok with this, as long as they design some sort of working offense. Which I think we can do! The Patriots did it with Gronkowski and Hernandez and we have Andrews already and could probably develop one of Likely, Kolar, or Oliver into a strong 2nd TE receiving option. I mean it might not be as good as that mega duo but I think it could be functional and then use WRs in more of a supporting role. But if you want to do that then DO IT!!! Don't do this half in half out thing of drafting WRs and limit using them. If you want to do that alternate route go all in with it. 2019 we didn't have great WRs and had one of the most dominant offenses in NFL history.

Assuming he plays out the full contract 250 million fully guaranteed is the same as 250 million with half guaranteed from a cap perspective (they can structure either deal however they want to make them the same). I don’t see how one would cripple their ability to put talent around Lamar and the other wouldn’t.

I don’t think you can’t trade 1st round picks more than 3 years out so that would limit the ask to Texans, Seattle, and Detroit.

I can’t imagine Texans or Seattle giving up that much and Detroit seems pretty happy with Goff.

Just looking at the schedule and Ravens/Bengals is kind of a poo poo primetime game. Vikings/Giants had way more potential for hilarity and at least one team that isn't half dead.

I mean if these are our choices with Lamar being out nothing was going to work.

Although I agree the Vikings being outplayed by the Giants stumbling into minor success for four quarters and winning (or losing for once) at the end in prime time would be pretty fun.
