"Tiny Trains"

God I'm glad I do live somewhere where not locking something isn't a sure thing for inviting trouble. I have a garage filled with tools and there's been a few times I've forgot to close the door and just left for a whole day and come back to nothing missing. Forget to lock the car up often too. Oops.

yeah, I live in a nice area too and routinely forget to lock poo poo . Sometimes my door doesn't close all the way and the wind blows it wide-open.

incidentally, where do you stay? I've been looking for a garage full of free tools---I mean a nice place to move.

Tbh home security cameras are pretty loving useless. There's someone for the past 2 years putting up posters for a 10k usd reward via the cops for someone who physically assaulted their elderly family member, with screencaps of the suspect via their home cams. Still unresolved. Cameras don't do poo poo. He should be locking the goddamn door though.

Should I Break Up With My Fiancé?

quote:

My fiancé and I have been engaged for 9 months and as we approach marriage it is beginning to dawn on me that maybe we should not be together. I love her very very dearly but she wishes to finish med school and I truly want to raise a family. If she is to become a doctor it is evident that she will be extremely absent in not only my life but the life of our children. I can not bring myself to tell her its either me or her dream of becoming a doctor so I am considering ending things, though it will kill me. We have both communicated that having a family is our number one priority but I feel she is delusional about how much of a strain it is to be a mother and doctor. What should I do? I dont want her to resent me if she ends up choosing me and a family over her profession. I also dont think I can handle being married to a woman who isnt there for a large portion of our marriage and a large portion of our childs lives.

Edit: For more context she wants to be a truama care surgeon.

Many are asking if I prefer her to be a SAHM or the primary parent. The answer is yes and she has known this since forever, she has also know since forever that I would not be a SAHD.

For all of you saying its sexist and misogynistic, I dont think this should apply to every household, I simply have my prefrences when it comes to how MY household should be a structured. Its kinda odd to just occuse people of such negative labels when they simply hold prefrences for THIER OWN personal lives. She has known my prefrences for a very long time. Yes, it was a bad call to keep on dating up to now despite our conflicting trajectories.

It doesn't even have to be electronic, you can get mechanical locks that always require a key for the outer handle to move the bolt. Then it's literally not possible to leave the door unlocked

This is the better option, electronic/smart door locks all have massive security holes and cannot stand up even slightly to the mildest attempt at entry, better to just use the mechanical solution that isn’t a slapdash cash grab

AITA for using multiple alarms in the morning when it's hard for my wife to sleep?

quote:

I am an extremely heavy sleeper, I fall asleep pretty fast, and can sleep through almost anything, short of the house collapsing with me in it. My wife, on the other hand, is an extremely light sleeper, wakes easily, and often lies awake for hours at night. We have a 6 month old who's teething and going through sleep regression, and my schedule recently changed to me having to go into work earlier. My wife is currently a SAHM and is the one responsible for the baby's care and house as I work 12+ hours a day and I'm exhausted by the time I'm home.

Because I'm a heavy sleeper it takes a lot and can take a while to wake me up. I'm currently getting up at 5am to get ready for work, which means I'm setting more alarms and over a longer period of time. My alarms are set to start at 3:30am and go off at 10 minute intervals until 5am to help me prepare for needing to get up. My wife absolutely hates this and gets mad at me for setting so many alarms since the first one wakes her and she can't get back to sleep before needing to get up with the baby in a few hours. She says if I'd just make an effort to get up on time instead of falling back asleep I wouldn't need so many alarms set. I responded I have to do it because I work and take care of everyone, it would be a bit different if I could play with the baby, relax during the day and nap when I want to. My wife got upset and snapped at me to figure out something better with my alarms as it's unfair to her, called me a dick for being dismissive of what she does all day, and ended up sleeping on the blow up mattress in the baby's room, locked me out and refuses to speak to me. AITA?

yeah well i work, i don't sit around playing all day like some people

Hey, I know you're spending years of your life grinding through an exceptionally difficult and selective training program (and taking on hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt) to become an emergency trauma surgeon, but how about you throw that all away in order to become my own personal baby factory and housekeeper? Dear lord I hit snooze way more than I should and even I think this is loving insane. One more in the column of "we really need to normalize that it's totally normal and healthy to sleep separately from your partner if it will improve your quality of sleep".

(Also, the dude clearly has no respect for his partner, but I get annoyed when people burn down their relationship trying to do something that's clearly not working for them because "every other couple does it this way!")

And speaking of alarms, thank you to whoever recommended those light-up alarm clocks in this thread forever ago, I got one and it's awesome. I still suck at getting up on time but at least it's not pitch dark in my room when I have to get up.

I started putting my alarm clock on the other side of the room for this reason. I can't very well excuse myself for snoozing and then rolling back over if I have to get up and walk across the room to turn the alarm off.

I remember this story (or a very similar one) having been posted and the part that makes me want to chew glass is the length of time he is loving around with snooze and extra alarms. That is from 3:30 AM until 5 AM, a full hour and a half. Every morning.

I would absolutely acquit if i was a juror in the murder case, wife deserves to slaughter this guy.

This is part of the reason I stopped doing it but more because I want to play with my phone before I go to sleep.

I read somewhere that cameras are good but only as a deterrent. So a fake one in clear view out the front does just as much good as an actual system.

My ex gf and my current fiancée both do this. :shepicide: It also seems to be inevitable that these multiple alarm sickos are partnered with light sleepers who are guaranteed to wake up in the first millisecond of an alarm going off.

I've tried calmly explaining that your brain can't go back into any kind of restful sleep in the space of a snooze button reprieve, so if you are setting alarms from 3:30 to 5 you are for all practical purposes getting up at 3:30, but to no avail.
