Ready to Poyozo Dance all over your face.
My only real speculation on the upcoming battle card type is how it'll fit into the overall color pie. All five colors will get battle cards, but on a spectrum of "Likes it -> Hates it," it'll be Red > White > Black > Green > Blue.

I think swap green and black there. Fighting is a big part of green and black doesn't like direct confrontation

Green's whole thing is that everything and everyone has a place in the natural order that they should accept. Battles are a massive disruption of the natural order. Green's not averse to violence if violence needs to happen, but it also doesn't go out of its way to engineer violence beyond simple hunting or self-defense for survival.

I figure black falls in the middle due to being self-interested enough that it would absolutely wage war if there was profit for it, but also go out of its way to punish others for attempting to wage war on it as a deterrent.

Do you think this storyline will end by Phyrexia swapping places with Zhalfir?

I do for sure, but have some less confident guesses too. Thinking March of Machines will refer to the United Planar Resistance or whatever they call it when everyone puts their poo poo aside to defend their planes and fight Phyrexia, using I'm guessing bigass machines. Don't think it makes sense to call Phyrexians machines and their war machines aren't really what's scary about them. I haven't paid enough attention to the non-ONE parts of the story to know if there's any support for that action.

There will be heavy losses and battles that scar planes both from Phyrexian bullshit but desperate magic's and forces used to defend against, or to maybe build the march madness machines. Either way, even when battle is over there's still plenty of new poo poo all hosed up to deal with. Figure the resistance is just that, resists the Phyrexians admirably and all but would still be overrun, so Teferi and whoever do a big thing to pop back in Zhalfir at some point with a continent of people who have been prepping for this exact kinda of conflict, but again still not enough, so they do another big thing presumably involving Teferi's sacrifice, and shunts New Phyrexia to the weird place Zhalfir was. Seems like MtG likes to imprison Big Bads over permanently destroying them, so they can reuse later. Probably still leaves a ton of Phyrexian crap to clean up and I don't have a guess for how shunting it away would affect the hosed up portal tree.

At least one person will be decompleated, but all or too many would be pretty cheap and kinda rude to all the non-PW who don't get a shot at healing. And that might be Aftermath stuff, might be awkward in main set.

Do we know what exactly the non-phyrexian plan is? I'd assumed it was "destroy these inhuman monsters at all costs", but in the recent sets the phyrexians have been getting less and less inhuman. A lot of 'em seem to have most of their free will and personalities still intact these days, and there are a buncha references to phyrexian missionaries and evangels implying that becoming a goop zombie is atleast somewhat voluntary. I kinda feel like this is unintentional, making the phyrexians more human makes them more interesting characters, but it undermines the thing that makes them uniquely evil.

It's only voluntary in the sense that you can either submit and become a goop zombie of your own free will, or you can be forcefully transformed into a goop zombie if you try to resist. Either way, you're becoming a goop zombie whether you want to or not.

Yeah, not only do I think red will be the color that cares the most about Battles, I think in the near future we’ll finally get a non-Un set one mana red Tutor that searches up Battles. Worldly, Mystical, Enlightened, Vampiric, and now (Valiant?) Tutor.

I recently realized that I don’t particularly like any of the constructed formats, as it quickly becomes about whether or not I’m willing to shell out the bucks for a deck and at that point I’m just paying money to win, or worse, not won despite the money I’ve paid.

But I do really enjoy draft, sealed, and Jumpstart.

So the initial conundrum was ‘what the hell do I do with all these cards I collect from the formats I like?’

And I’ve realized the answer is in constructing custom, curated Jumpstart packs to pull from a cube. So I’m going to start doing that.

So my question is are there reasonably cheap decent sleeves I can buy? Dragon Shield are the best, but then I’m looking at 12 bucks for every 5 JS ‘packs’.

The other question is are the small cardboard deck boxes I could buy to house each one? This would make sorting and storage easiest because you could draw which ‘pack’ you’re going to use and then grab the box it’s in.

Also found Burger Token boxes which are reviewed better. Sounds like the dragon shield brand ones catch on the lip which could tear up the sleeves over time.

I think that mtg lacks a constructed format that Jumpstart & Drafts can feed into and do decently in. Especially when you have something like Brothers War where you can get a ridiculous amount of cards in the packs that you can't play in Standard and the cards probably don't do well enough to stand on their own in Pioneer or Modern without investing into the older sets.

We need more women in STEM, and by that, I mean skateboarding, television, esports, and magic.
My older brother and his friends played Magic 10-15 years ago, which got me interested in it for a time. I stopped playing after moving out-of-state from them, but I didn't get rid of my cards. Recently, I've started watching the MTG streamer Voxy's shows on Twitch, which inspired me to dig up my little collection, organize it, and catalog it.

I have no idea what I was trying to do with these cards at the time, aside from having a sliver deck that always either won big or got trounced; there were zero close games with it.

I believe that format would be “casual” or “kitchen table”. There’s an argument that commander-friendly cards in Jumpstart also help feed into that as a constructed format where you can use the cards you get from the limited ones.

the current set, Brother's War, is a great set especially for draft. it's got a subline included in one slot in each pack that are retro artifacts from past sets, which makes drafting way more interesting. howling mine! chromatic lantern! wurmcoil engine! sundering titan! it's a lot of fun.

there's some things in the main brother's war set that interact in interesting ways with them too, like howling mine only activates if it's untapped. so if you have a citanul stalwart and howling mine in play, you can tap the mine using the stalwart for mana on your turn(even if you don't use it) and so you get to draw two cards while your opponent doesn't. If they don't kill either of them, which is unappealing since premium removal used on them can't be saved for something more threatening, you can drown them in card advantage.
