I keep thinking that our economy would not support Euro, the weakening PLN and beneficial conversion rate help to maintain our status as cheap labor for the rest of EU, the backbone of our world

After seeing what happened to Greece (and the southern economies in general), any country that's not on the Euro and relies on being able to tweak their exchange rate would have to be absolutely insane to adopt it.

Can't you just have one of those parties in December? We used to do them in foul weather, and it was just a matter of picking one person responsible for keeping the heat under the grill going and rotating food. Nowadays I have LPG grill, so it's even less of an issue. The bonus of those is you can keep vodka chilled by having it outside.

Funnily enough, it often rains in my hometown part of the country around Midsummer, so I’ve spent half of my teenage years grilling in lumber storage sheds and similarly safe circumstances lol. Doing a shashlik party in December would be something new for me though - half of the experience is eating it outside while random farm animals are lounging around.

Eh, the current Polish government is doing enough creative accounting, that it's getting harder and harder to say what the state of the finances are. So on the one hand having an independent currency makes some sense to try to stabilize poo poo, but on the other - about the current national bank being independent.

Spiralling debt where the mandatory expenses each year outstrip the country's income you say? Sounds familiar.

Výší průměrné mzdy se kraj řadil na druhé místo za hl. m. Prahu a těsně pod celorepublikový průměr. Not sure where you’re getting your data from, and also, costs of living in SK are still higher than in CZ. Maybe my data is wrong, but I can’t find anything reliable saying what you’re quoting. Edit: Looking through Slovakian sources this is the most recent info I can find: https://ekonomika.pravda.sk/ludia/clanok/649117-priemerna-mzda-atakuje-1300-eur-pozrite-si-v-akych-odvetviach-sa-zaraba-najlepsie-grafy/ I saw some websites reporting the average you mentioned, and there’s a suspicious 400 eur jump in their averages citing official sources but with no links to them: https://tradingeconomics.com/slovakia/wages Maybe you have access to something more official? Jumping the average by this much feels miraculous at best. advanced statsman fucked around with this message at 14:43 on Jan 22, 2023 |
