Did they change the system where when you get a card of a certain rarity/goldenness from a pack, it’s guaranteed to be one you don’t have, intentionally or otherwise? There are a couple of plain blue March of the Lich King cards I haven’t gotten yet, but I’ve been getting 3rd copies of other cards to auto-dust.

if youre missing cards from the Path of Arthas set, those are not available in packs and have to be crafted/bought - so the dupe protection skips over em

maybe that's it?

A small chunk of them have cosmetic rewards. Often these are at the end the chain of the achievement (e.g. step 6 out of 6). These will have a treasure chest or portrait icon.

Gameplay achievements for the current expansion award experience towards the current expansion's reward track. These will have a scroll icon with an XP number on it.

The rest just increase a meaningless number. These are the ones with just a number in an orange circle icon.

... Insert something brilliantly witty here.

Turn 3 denathrius? Pfft you've not lived until you drop 2x lackey, rigged fayre game, counter and contract conjurer turn 1.

No, they are all cards that have golden or signature versions on the free reward track. Arcsplitter, Basnshee, and Translocation Instructor. I’m pretty sure I took the option to swap out the regular versions for others when I got the golden ones and it was presented to me, so I think there’s a bug there.

makes this a net positive for Blood overall

I'm thinking mostly from a Reno DK perspective since that's what I've been playing.

Yeah so this was wrong. Everyone seems to be playing the decks that were strong before the rogue/DH meta formed, and it feels as though Blood doesn't do as well against the wider field compared to the relatively narrow meta before this patch.

I was 32-17 in ~3000 legend before the patch with Reno BDK; 15-18 afterwards.

I beat Kibler on stream the day before the patch though, so that was cool :v:

The game will only give you cards you don’t already own once, if you later dust them/swap them then the game still considers you to have had them and will give out new unique missing cards until you have had all of them and then any further will just be random. This is to stop players will full sets doing things like dusting a recently nerfed rare/common card with full refund value then opening packs of that set to get that exact card and then repeating the process.

Usually nothing worthwhile but some of them give out Gold copies of cards or whatever.

Cats like optical fibers.

Perfect. Also, to add salt to the wound, their gnoll took out my early minion before transforming into Denny.

I think their nerfs were pretty solid and moving the meta in the right direction. I have mostly enjoyed their year of the Hydra cards. Anachronos is probably my favorite card ever in terms of flavor, functionality and art. There's still a few too many cards to make early lopsided non-games for my liking though.

if you're on a new account some of the achievements actually do give the legendary cards that were offered for free in previous expansions.. like if you just started today the way to unlock Ambassador Faelin is to play 100 colossal minions in any game mode that counts for achievement progress. You can also get packs for completing the acheivements related to some of the single player content like the book of heroes / mercenaries.

It's not particularly important

As much as I hate BG people leaving because they don't get a Hero they want - Offering Denathrius and THEN doing the Q, with him 0 armour, knowing so many of them were never meant to be viable late is madness.

Dont be in such a hurry to grow up, since there's nothin' a kid can't do.
I've been playing outcast demon hunter and I don't know if it's the strongest deck but it's fun just dumping cards out of your hand as fast as you can, and the lich king cards give you a little bit more resources so you can drag the game longer than the nathria decks let you.

I don't know if anyone in here needs to hear this but don't play the Heroic Brawliseum, it is a tremendous scam with an average 30% loss in value on purchase (if you equate 1 pack from the previous expansion to 100 gold that is, which many do not at this point if they already have all the cards). Furthermore even that 70% of remaining value for gold expenditure is heavily skewed to players that can win 7+ games, 50% of all players who enter will get 0, 1 or 2 wins before losing out for a maximum reward of 1 to 3 packs in exchange for your 1,000 gold.

If you are going to play it just to get the DK portrait then good luck to you! bring a tier 1 deck and hope for good matchups!

the best part of wild reno decks is looking at their dust cost

They're a LOT of fun but I think the Pally one is up to like 27? Legendaries. At least a lot of the Neutral cards transfer between them.

First rule of Wild Reno decks is to have fun. Never dusted your golden Kabal Courier? Time to build a reno mage/warlock/priest deck! Don't have that one DR minion for Reno Hunter? Throw in that weaponized piñata you forgot to dust!

When I have time I'm going to try climbing with it.

I had pretty much all these cards, so I crafted the rest and played it for a few games to complete the 'Win 5 Ranked Standard games' for the first time in like 6 months. I then took in to the Heroic Brawl and went 7-3, despite not really knowing anything about matchups, what to play around or even what my opponents' decks did lol - I was seriously confused seeing the Warlock deck with the mines. Cool though.

One loss was from really poor draw and one loss was because I played incorrectly to counter what my opponent was going to do. In fact, I probably did that nigh on every game to some extent, so it goes to show that even with ignorant autopilot, this deck is pretty strong.

The only 'clunky' part of the deck feels like when you get something like a Body Bagger + Battlefield Necromancer T1/2 start, which is the most tempo you can get, but often ends up weirdly slowing you down because you never generate enough corpses to activate Grave Strength to capitalise on your early board lead.

I'm the lead trumpet player, playing loud and high is all I know how to do.

The current "Rainbow DK" build is about the one I had in mind pre-launch for being the strongest DK deck, only in reality Wildpaw Gnolls came back to suppress decks like this and Shockspitter was way, way more powerful than anyone expected. I feel justified giving myself the point for this call, as it doesn't use any of the buffed DK cards aside from Blightfang's inexplicable buff, but is quite competitive alongside the current FFF and UUU decks.

Climbing with it has been really slow for me. I've been queueing into endless control decks; nothing like watching a BBB DK discover its fourth Vampiric Blood to make me want to play another game for a bit. I probably should have switched to something like Bomblock, but I got stubborn. Glad it's working for you!

Again, Discover in general is either too good a mechanic (Just Offer 2 - For small card pools it's basically a Sideboard) or wildly undercosted on the cards it's on.

... Insert something brilliantly witty here.

Discover is probably the most interesting and digital-exclusive mechanic in the game and I really, really wouldn't want to see it go. It's got a unique interaction with new classes though, because when they're released, there are no filler cards so your discover pool is always strong.

PS: The best keyword is definitely Dredge.

Give it an expansion cycle and DK discover won't be nearly as oppressive.

(Also, discover is actually weak in Wild for the same reason - SO MUCH GARBAGE.)

Oh yeah, Discover as a concept I am wildly in favour of, and as you note, it's a mechanic that can only be done in a digital game.

The 'cost' and efficacy of Discover, especially as it compounds with pool size as mentioned is the question. Consequentially we end up with Neutral cards that are wildly over/undercosted depending on the Class that's playing them, and that's just weird.

Cats like optical fibers.
Discover is a good concept and mechanic, but it can be extremely powerful. I'm in favor of most discover effects being fairly specific rather than stuff like "discover a spell" or "discover a minion".

Unholy DK aggro is a real good time. I love a strong beatdown deck with lots of interesting lines of play and number crunching.
