Has anyone with a THR10 II used it to play with a band? Not gigging or anything but getting together to play in a living room or something.

Was planning on doing this in the next month or two but I'm not sure if it will be loud enough - maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to pick up a Katana...

I can't imagine it'd be anywhere near loud enough. I remember struggling to be heard with my first 15w 1x8 amp, a 5w 2x3 won't be heard over a drummer unless they're playing pianissimo.

About a month ago I was at GC and saw a used strandberg 6 string for sale. Wasn’t really looking for a six, but played it and realized with a setup it could be pretty cool. So I grabbed it, thinking it would be a nice test run to see if I could vibe with the endurneck.

A month later, gently caress me.

After a setup the guitar is the easiest to play I’ve ever owned, is the perfect weight, sits just perfect while I’m standing. Even the tone is surprisingly crisp, very distinct string separation.
Neck relief is perfect as well, I got action down to like .5mm/1.3mm with no buzzing (light touch playing, but can hit decently hard with no ringing in amp).

I mainly play 8 strings, and I don’t even want to pick them up anymore. They’re too heavy, sit weird, and just don’t feel anywhere near as fun to play as the strandberg.
Hell, even my PRS CE22 feels stiff and awkward after playing the strandberg for a bit, and the PRS was my main 6 up until this point.

Really wasn’t expecting to resonate so much with it, but it’s completely reworked how I approach my guitar requirements. So I think I have to bite the bullet, sell most of my collection, and grab a strandy 8.

i recently got a strandberg "Standard" model 6-string electric guitar (B-stock), and i'm seriously ready to sell my other electric guitars to get a 2nd one! only 4.6 lbs! it makes a huge difference to how long i can keep playing. it's my new favorite. i will say it's annoying to tune and i haven't changed strings yet (said to be annoying).

my previous favorite guitar (the G&L tele) is 8.3 lbs, and i still like the way it sounds, but i always switch to the stranberg if i'm playing for long enough. All the poo poo i thought i cared about in an electric guitar -- out the window lol

I wouldn’t have bought it if I hadn’t had the chance to play it first, tbh. Only other one I tried was crap for the price, almost turned me off until I saw this one. But drat, when things are right these are impressive guitars.

Curious about how the ergonomics hold up for a tall person though. It’s great for me, might not be for someone with long arms

My 7 string strandberg rules. Super light and comfortable. My only complaint is that my pick occasionally hits the pickup covers, which is a bit annoying but not a real problem.

Agreed on tuning since I prefer to pluck the string as I'm adjusting the pegs which is tough to do when they're on the bridge. Its the same with my locking trems though so not that big of a deal. Changing strings isn't particularly annoying imo, at least on a fixed bridge. I think maybe you might need something like a small screwdriver to lift the string up over the saddle iirc. I remember thinking it wasn't so bad when I did it the first time.

Wow, I kinda scoffed at Justin's suggestion to switch to a super thin pick thinking it was silly to imagine it would matter, but after doing so it legit is way easier to do these strumming patterns.

Nice work. I changed gauges on my MIM Strat from 11-52 back down to 10-46 recently, and also had the trem claw completely out to resolder the ground wire. Despite supposedly knowing what I'm doing with a setup, it also took a long time to get back to an ideal playing condition.

Liz Stokes from The Beths goes over her pedalboard in the most recent video from Earthquaker Devices. She really gets a good tone out of a G&L Tribute Fallout, which is an offset that I don't hear about much.

I keep some .73s around for strumming stuff and some 1.14s around for metal rhythm and think that's a nice mix. I like Dunlop Flows because of the grippy texture and the bevels on the edges.

I have the black version of the same guitar, I got it for $375 on Craigslist which I consider a really good no brainer price (I had seen it up for $400 and the guy lowered it to $375 when it didn’t sell cause he has like an amp shop or something and gotta keep stuff moving). Idk I can’t tell you if you need it or not but I think if I had to pick just one fender style guitar to have this would be it. That feels evil to say cause the tele is so good an pure. Only caution I will give is the bridge/trem situation will make it slightly mor fiddley than a hard tail, but contrary to internet opinion you can get it set up just fine without shimming it or replacing the bridge

Very easy and only as expensive as the pot. I haven't done that exact thing, but I've done a few push/pull pots and used DPDTs for killswitches, a push/pull pot is just a DPDT where the switch is pulling on a knob. You might have some issues finding a pusg/pull with the right taper for a tone knob.

Thicker picks are way way better for leads and fast rhythm lines. I switched to 1.5mm a while ago and can't believe I used to use anything thinner. You can get a lot more precise with an inflexible pick brushing over the strings than trying to force a thinner pick through the strings.

That said, there's some ridiculous picks out there. I was testing out some gear I was getting from a guy on craigslist and asked if he had a pick I could use. He handed me a chunk of plastic as big as my thumb and easily a half inch thick or more and I was like wtf am i supposed to do with this my guy

I've tried picks at 2 and 3mm and I wasn't fond of the way it changed how gripping the pick feels. Somewhere between 1 and 1.5mm is my happy medium for fast rhythm/metal, I think - you get the stability of the thicker pick without changing how you engage with picking.

Ok, so I'm an idiot and dropped my tele while my wireless adapter was plugged in, shattering the transmitter. I can order a replacement on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TYRQ222/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 but I did think about just replacing the transmitter with a used one on Ebay. I'm assuming they won't pair correct? I think they are RF and need some factory settings reset to even work together? Bonus points if anyone has a cheaper alternative but I was very satisfied with the Lekato. Ugh.

I don't know for sure but I would assume you could grab another transmitter and it would work. The green light is also a pairing button, so press it on both units until they start to flash and they should pair.

Is there something I should do to stop the buzz on this 6th string? I've made sure it's not out of tune or something and hitting the frets because it's too slack, but it's getting on my nerves a bit. It's not like I'm goint to be playing for anyone or anything so it's not super important, but it does get a bit annoying even I'm a peepee poopoo newbie who plays like garbage.

So make sure you eliminate like all things that could potentially move or rattle on your guitar before you start making any other adjustments. I ordered a guitar like 2 months ago and had a buzz on the 5th or 6th fret and it specifically had to do with the pickguard reverberating when that sting was plucked at that fret, after tightening it was good to go. It sounded exactly like fret buzz to me. So that means checking things like:

Tuners
Trees
Bridge parts
Fasteners
Pickups
Various hardware

If you’ve already ruled all these out I’m sure someone here will give you the correct setup advice. Just make sure it’s 1000% not one of these things first.

Since you're only complaining about the sixth string I'm guessing your fretting technique is fine.

If you've got the cash, pay a luthier for a setup so you can get a baseline for what a good setup feels like, then start learning about how to tweak the different aspects of your guitar's bridge and neck so you can make these adjustments in the future.

And that makes it really want to be played with arpeggiation and fingerstyle jingling which is very interesting. It seems like a guitar that wants to be gentle, especially with how sweet the coil split makes these pickups sound.
