Paying for Twitter API could be ok if reasonably priced, but 25c a HTTP request is not it. Only 50,000 x S3,

that's the existing pricing for a specific "search tweets" enterprise API for doing historical analysis stuff, not the general v1/v2 APIs
https://developer.twitter.com/en/pricing/search-30day

there's still a chance that the price for the v1/v2 API will be even stupider

i appreciate the old school tech hubris from musk where he sees that his newly acquired platform has had a weirdly out sized reputation and impact and naturally assumes that it will always have that same reputation and impact, not matter what he does with it

nothing anyone actually uses is going to do less than 10k requests per month. if no one uses it, why the gently caress would you pay for access?

As a comparison, 1000 requests to the Google maps API costs $2, and Street View $7. And $200 of usage per month is free on top of that.

that's the price for the api that will tell you exactly how many times anyone has ever said "buttcoin" on twitter, not the general read/post api

my rss feed converter makes 1 request per minute, updating 1 feed at a time in a round-robin fashion. in other words, it makes 40320 requests in february.
i'm definitely paying elon $10k every month to keep it running

Isn't this also after Google having taken advantage of their superior position in maps to increase the pricing for the google maps api multiple times, too?

So it's already extremely high compared to api pricing for most things
