The Adventuring parties for this season are very funny, but this week's is truly crazy nonsense and their crew deserves a raise

The "Name That Bird" challenge has been immortalized in YouTube form. Which I've watched a dozen or more times in the last few days since I found it. I think I appreciate Katie's faces as much as anything else in the video. I think she's trying not to crack up at Brennan's obvious frustrations. That aside, I do want an answer to Brennan's final question in the round: "Did his heart rate break at a certain bird? Or right away"? There's also a behind the scenes video about the episode up on Dropout, where we find out that Brennan was a last minute addition to the line up, after Raph dropped out and man, it's hard to imagine that game without Brennan. Raph is great, but this challenge seemed almost tailor made for Brennan.

Challenging Brennan in some way that almost compels him to quash his competitive nature so as to keep himself in the running is basically the ultimate Brennan challenge, and he'd have to quash it to keep his heart rate low but it'd rise any time he did get competitive.

I love that the goal for everyone else was to spook them and make them jumpy and for Brennan it was to trigger his competitiveness. I think the game worked out far better than if it was just three people getting anxious. Also Carolyn is a great addition to CH who I would like to see more of. Her Breaking News spots are very fun.

Her strategy of just standing in front of Brennan and screaming in his face was not only funny, but low key genius. Your heart rate rising as a reaction to hearing one of your species cry out in apparent distress is likely a primal reaction that would be nearly impossible to suppress

It was certainly a better strategy than whatever the gently caress Katie was doing.

Dirty Laundry is cute. And I appreciate that between it and gamechanger they're letting them go as long as they need to be vs. trying to stick to a tight 30 or full hour every time.

Love that their season finale has just become "let's do a twist on a well known franchise but in a day and two episodes". Would be disappointed that it's not ending in a Taskmaster pastiche, but gently caress is this one clever.

The only downside with this choice is that they missed the obvious joke and didn't go for 90 Minute Fiancé. Always next time, I guess

To be fair, It's already awkward enough. It's very fun how quickly Grant goes from feeling awful about rejecting strangers after a twenty second interaction to skipping over people in the speed dating in two seconds because they like the breadsticks.

https://twitter.com/BrennanLM/status/1620888997907292160 https://twitter.com/canaanhess/status/1620950589629669377 Brennan has started his training arc. Also, just as a reminder, Aabria, Brennan, Erika and Lou's new podcast, Worlds Beyond Number has started up. They put up the Patreon page for it a few days ago, and already have roughly 20,000 subscribers (they had 10,000 with 24 hours from what I gather) and the first, preview episode went up a few days ago. I just grabbed it a few minutes ago, so I've no idea how it is, but I can't even imagine it won't be at least "good" as a baseline.

The Game Changer S6 episode where Brennen identifies birds whilst competing against a professional birdwatcher and an ornithologist practically writes itself And if/when that happens, I legitimately don't know who will win. It could very well be Brennan.

timp posted:The Game Changer S6 episode where Brennen identifies birds whilst competing against a professional birdwatcher and an ornithologist practically writes itself There's no way Sam doesn't throw a twist into that game; like the two other contestants are literal children with all the knowledge you'd expect of actual children. Can Brennan win if winning means crushing their dreams and denying them whatever prize he's offering? So all the questions are insultingly easy, and Brennan has just wasted a year learning obscure birds for no reason. Does he want the point so much he'll compete for a plastic slide sized for a 5 year old? Or, as someone else pointed out in the twitter thread, dinosaurs are technically birds too, or at least the descendants of birds; so the show will start off with birds to build Brennan's smugness up, only to swerve into dinosaur facts. Or egg facts, because eggs are proto-birds. tsob fucked around with this message at 16:20 on Feb 14, 2023 |

If Brennan doesn't know dinosaurs Id be amazed. Someone should pitch the kids thing to Sam though. It's an amazing idea. First they came for his brain, then they came for his heart. Have one of the kids start crying when Brennan beats them.

Brennan might try and convince them that Sam is the bad guy and he'll share the prize with them if he wins, he just wants to beat Sam. They still have that "Congrats you've unionized" sign I bet.

First they came for his brain, then they came for his heart. Have one of the kids start crying when Brennan beats them. There are several hundred species of dinosaurs, and most people just know the most famous dozen or so really, so Sam could do the same trick with really obscure ones. Not to mention the ancient/extinct species from the period that most people think of as dinosaurs to throw in as an occasional trick question. You definitely wouldn't want to do that more than once or twice, but then you could also do a "is it a dinosaur or not" bonus round to knock 'em out at once. seaborgium posted:It might backfire, he's spent a lot of time working at a camp for kids. I feel like Sam would see the comedy in that and enjoy it as a tactic regardless.
