Can anyone recommend a wall mount that would fit 2 65" tvs that's not $1000? I understand I could just use 2 mounts but having one rail seems like it would be so much easier to align them.

I’ve had some funny YouTube searches if I’m not precise in my speech. Could be the older tv but unsure. It’s cool tho.

Yeah it's not always 100% accurate but it's much quicker than typing the words out manually and a bit quicker than connecting and searching from my phone in most cases, so I'm happy enough

StarTech makes one. No idea if it's any good but that is a brand I've heard of before for IT gear.

The best route IMO is to consolidate all your non-high bandwidth sources on a 18gbps switch, since the only one I know of works with everything is really expensive. That said StarTech is an actual company and not a bunch of random letters with an Amazon store so at that price it might be worth a shot.

Yeah, but the only reason to buy the Ultra is Ethernet or bluetooth audio. Otherwise the regular 4k Stick provides the same streaming experience. You can go even cheaper if you don't need dolby vision by going with the Express 4k+ or even the base Express 4k for $35.

I've been using an Express 4k on my bedroomTV for years without issues.

I would not recommend the Roku Ultra for ethernet because it literally doesn't even have gigabit. Seems unbelievable since it's their flagship device to the point where I wouldn't fault someone for just assuming and not even checking. Can't even stream 4k remux. A niche use among the general public, sure, but is desire for gigabit really niche among people who would drop extra coin on the most premium media playback device the company offers? Smh

Thanks guys! yeah, looking on Amazon is a waste of time, so much cheap garbage that’s impossible to sort through. HDFury looks like it does everything that I could possibly want, I guess I’m not surprised that it doesn’t come cheap but seems like it’s reasonably future proof, at least as much as is realistic.

If anyone uses an S95B and want to bring their TV back to the glory days of the 12xx firmware, you can do that now due to very recent and powerful adjustments that can be made to the service menu. just fyi.

You can even bring the set above its base specs BEFORE the nerf, but at your own risk.

I was told about this by someone else and want to pay it forward.

anyone have issues with hbo max on their 4k apple tv? i've got this weird thing going on where, if i'm trying to play a new episode for a show, the drat thing will play the initial hbo ads, the recap, but then go black screen for the actual episode. the subtitles still play, which makes sense given those are probably from a different file, and i get sound for the episode, but visual is lost. ffwing and rwing doesn't help.

if i try to play any older video, the spinning asterisk thing animates for like 3sec, then just stops. nothing ever loads.

this thing worked just fine as of like saturday. and all of my other services are fine.

started a ticket with hbo max, but that went nowhere. they escalated the ticket to a specialist, but...i'm not hopeful.

updated tv, apple tv, and deleted and redownloaded hbo max during the process fwiw.

I'm on a Roku TV and the HBO app does this poo poo all the time. It'll play an ad, then start the recap and If I hit "skip recap" it'll just start the entire process over. Then like... the sixth time? It'll finally actually start the show. Their app is the *worst*

Crunchyroll is fine (on Android tv) after the last patch fixed login issues and default language/subtitle choices. The only problem is that hitting back is very slow to respond.

I think that means they're going through the TV's DAC and then through the speakers amplifier, if you were using SPDIF then you would be using the (probably much better) DAC in your powered bookshelf speakers

i dont know if it's a delay issue or what, but every time i've used SPDIF there's some lag before the sound kicks in, it's especially noticeable in stuff like games with menu feedback sounds which are nearly inaudible unless there's already music playing in the background

As long as you can't hear a difference in A/B then you're good, unless there is a way to calibrate the audio sync. The DAC is better but if your ears can't tell the difference then it's all gravy with 3.5

Long odds, but can anyone confirm that the US model of the LG C1, OLED65C1PUB, is in fact dual voltage? Both of the replacement power board specs I've found online are rated to maximum 240V (even though the sticker on the back of the TV doesn't say so,), so I think it's likely fine, but I'm moving from the states to Europe and would like to be certain, rather than just likely, the power board won't explode before I plug it in.

Worst case I just open the TV and read the power board itself, but if someone here knows you've saved me that time.

UPDATE: cracked the back, it's indeed dual voltage. Cool.

Welp my hellspawn cracked the display on the stupidly fragile LG OLED65C9P screen and it no longer turns on and it turns out whatever scam extended warranty I could have sworn advertised accidental damage coverage does not in fact cover that. Super excited by this fact given watching that very TV is how I unwind every single night before bed.

What is the current replacement for this thing? Are there any that have comically large plates of glass in front of them CRT style? :v: I want basically the same TV but hopefully for less than the $2500 I spent on it in Jul-2019. I primarily use it to watch 4k HDR plex stuff from my roku without transcoding.

You're looking for the LG C2 or soon to be released C3. If your budget is $2500, I'd strongly suggest the C2 77", on sale recently for sub-2300. Even more fragile, of course.

I guess this is a silly question, but do you have home contents insurance? In the UK, at least, this may well be covered, and so long as your deductible / excess isn't too high you'd be able to get a replacement for far less than $2500.

Thanks. The local best buy has the C2 for $1700. 65" is the max for the space without some serious re-arrangement of the room.

Now that I've pondered it a bit more, if I decide to go cheap is there such a thing as a 4k/hdr TV that will do atmos in whatever fake way my current c9 is doing it? I am trying to avoid transcoding in plex, so if it will smile and nod to the HDMI supported codecs handshake then downmix it to stereo or whatever that would be awesome.

The hike in my premium from a claim like this would outweigh any potential value in 1-2 years. I don't know how it works in the UK but here in the USA you generally want 10x your deductible before you start claiming stuff with homeowners insurance. (There are some special carve outs but our insurance is supposed to be for catastrophic loss.)

Here we have shady at the register sold extended warranties.

Edit: oh yeah, this is what it looks like. The lines start at the sides, converge, then the TV turns itself off. There is a visible crack/impact where they meet. :suicide:

Do TVs have a finite amount of processing power for dealing with HDMI inputs?

My Samsung 6 Series (mid-range "HDR"-but-not-really 4k smart TV) has inconsistently experienced an issue where, when playing PS5, the image and sound will cut out for a few seconds, or otherwise flicker green a little bit. Sometimes it doesn't happen for weeks/months, but recently it's happening all the time.

If I turn the TV off, and leave it for about 30 seconds, then the issue will usually resolve itself for a little bit. I've experienced the same thing whether the PS5 is plugged directly into the TV, or if the PS5 is routed through my AV unit. One thing I have noticed is that if the Freeview box is on, the issue seems to worsen, but again, it's not consistent enough to really imply anything significant.

I've also recently started connecting the TV with my AV unit via HDMI CEC, having previously connected them using optical audio, and I suspect this is probably the root cause. I don't really wanna give it up, though, as the integration with the TV is pretty useful.

The problem occurs regardless of which HDMI port I use on the TV, or which cables. I guess there's a chance that the issue could be with the PS5 port itself, but I think that all evidence suggests the problem is with the TV.

I am desperate for an excuse to buy a fancy new OLED, but this niggly issue I think isn't important enough to warrant dropping four figures on a new telly. God drat it.
