You can't (legitimately, ignoring fraud and poo poo) sell products to people who don't exist. Encourage population growth or break into a new market. Introducing Netfux, Pornhub's days are numbered.

I mean this is why a lot of businesses have to diversify at some point. There's a hard market cap on what is achievable. Doesn't matter if you're a streaming service or you make pickles, the market demand will not be infinite or have infinite growth. It's like economic thermodynamics.

torrenting has been pretty easy for me, and no copyright dings in probably 5-6 years I use protonvpn, and I just bind qbittorrent to the protonvpn virtual adapter, so if the vpn disconnects, I can't torrent period e. I only got dinged because I got stupid, and snagged a torrent off a public tracker before I had the vpn setup above. I finally got copyright dinged and it was over ps2 isos lol

Does anyone know the name for when a company announces something extreme that gets everyone upset, then they walk it back to indicate they're listening to public response, then end up rolling out a toned-down version they actually wanted all along? I think it's supposed to make the change more palatable than just doing it outright or something. or is it just PR 101?

Would complete consolidation in streaming - one service to access all currently available streamed TV/film - be worth more or less than the current combined subscription prices of Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime, AppleTV+, etc.? Also when is some form of consolidation (if not total) in this space finally gonna happen.

You really don't want consolidation, that's called a monopoly. As it is there's about 7 big services and a bunch of more niche ones, or local offshoots of the big ones. The moment any of these fail (and it won't be Disney+ or any company with diverse funding) their content will be snapped up by everyone else. Then someone will buy the collective rest of it that no one wanted to bid on specifically. My prediction is that we'll get to the point that there'll be three or four big companies, likely the Disney and Amazons type, and that'll be it. They won't be competitors, because this isn't live TV where you can only watch one thing at a time. It'll just be a case of "what catalogues do you want access to?" and then you pay for that. If there is any sort of consolidation services you can rest assured it'll be cable style in that you won't pay for all the services, you'll pay for parts of each services' catalogue. You want the family entertainment package? Sure, you get access to all the things labelled Family on those services, nothing else. Drama? Same thing. We're just gonna go full cable again.
