I feel like they're pacing this a lot like Andor - several episodes of setup and character development, not every episode needs maximum PEW PEW, and then big payoffs at certain points, etc. Maybe the dialogue was a little much the second time when they were in the building, but the pun book was good, and the scenery/cinematography was fantastic.

Really dug it. The truck crash scene was great. I like how it sets you up to think Joel will obviously shoot the guy and then he knifes him to save the bullet. The sneak peek for next week had one second of footage that seems like we'll get remnants of the Ish storyline. Wish it was longer but it's great the next ep is Friday night because of the Super Bowl.

I haven't played the first game since release, what was Sam and Henry's story there? Were they connected to the group in the city or were they just two people Joel and ellie run into?

Yeah it felt really short. But I think we are spoiled from previous episodes being movie length. I imagine the entire next episode will be focused on Henry and Sam. Which I think is good. It would have also been weird to introduce them in the middle of this episode when we needed to give Joel and Ellie time to bond and build their relationship.

You ran into them into an occupied city; they were trying to escape too, you guys had banter and issues back and forth but made it, then the kid ended up infected due to one of the forced rights the game made you do. They both died, but it was transitional to get you out of the town to the next point. I think that weird sniper fight was somewhere around d here too where you couldn't kill him no matter what bead you had on him and had to Hotspot the cutscene to sneak up on him.

Yeah in the game Sam and Henry are just traveling through the city and trying to avoid the Hunters, same as Joel and Ellie. They didn’t have a personal history with the Hunters, this woman trying to get revenge for having her brother ratted out to FEDRA is new.

Joel, you never get off the interstate and drive through a new city when you’re roadtripping pre apocalypse, wtf are you doing buddy. Good ep, glad the next one is Friday bc this one was short. I like them giving some actual characterization to these hunters, makes it a bit more interesting. And goddamn they did the dude begging after being shot so well, that was agonizing.
