Oh wow I just finished "Herogasm". The idea is poo poo, the script is poo poo, the art is poo poo that has been eaten and reshitted. I know in my liver that I should just stop reading "The Boys" and watch the moving pictures, but I'm already three albums in and want to know what happens.

Any comic book goons who live in the Los Angeles area, just a heads up, the Perky Nerd in Burbank is closing its doors at the end of feb. They won an industry award last year for best comic shop and less than a year later, they’re closing their doors. Head on over and buy some discounted comics and merch if you’re able.

My wife is reading Sandman for the first time and just finished A Game of You and we were talking about. We're both curious about how the story is received in the Trans community and if it was ever seen as groundbreaking at the time or dated now.

At the time, it was almost unheard of to even have a trans character in anything, let alone as a sympathetic character who was treated by the author as really their chosen gender (gently caress you, moon). And these days there are folks, mostly younger readers who aren't living under the oppressive weight of the AIDS crisis (and thank goodness for that), who appreciate its importance, but also see it as yet another example of "kill your queers".

Buying something is a good gesture towards the store for bringing him, and he would probably like the store to feel like they’re getting their monies worth. Or just do whatever. The store knows only a certain percentage will actually buy something, and that just getting people in the door is probably enough.

I didn't get to make it to the signing but that's how I ended up with a couple trades from Mike Carey's Hellblazer run with his autograph. That store at least only charged cover price, they were just mixed in with their new trades and obviously there's no authentication, but it's pretty cool.

ugh I just saw that there's starting to be preorders going up for a late 2023 reprint of Vol2 of the Absolute Transmetropolitan collection, so I went off to see if that might finally be reprinting the rare-as-hens-teeth Vol3; absolutely nothing that I can find
