I mean Ford is getting away selling a reskinned Escape as a Bronco so there's something to be said about the name they pick for a car in terms of will it help sell it.

Well don't you know I'm caught in a trap?

I own a '67 Mustang, and I've owned 4 New Edges, I like the cars, I could still give a gently caress less about the "Mustang brand"

The Mach looks pretty good and the regular version isn’t really any more embarrassing than any of the other bottom tier turds they’ve called Mustangs they just shouldn’t have made the GT.

Your stories about the weird wet fart acceleration limiting kept me from buying a GT at the absolute upper edge of my price range, then Ford axed the heated seat option and I gave up on the Mach completely and got the Bolt instead, the Bolt is a fantastic car for half the money, but it's not exactly a fun driving experience.

I'm sure Ford cares a lot about my opinion with a 6 month waiting list to buy the drat things still.

I was thinking about buying a Ford Edge but there was I wait so I just bought a Chevy Spark...

The Mach-E and the Bolt are not even remotely in the same market besides they have four wheels and batteries, much less the Mach-E GT.

I'M HUGE!
Ford doesn't wanna make sedans anymore.

It's a shame, I've bought two Fusions (one hybrid) over the years, and they've been the best cars I've ever owned. Aside from an oil gasket issue on the non-hybrid at 140k miles, neither of them have ever needed any repairs* beyond normal maintenance.

If there were a reasonably-priced Fusion EV - preferably not using the latest/last design revamp, because it's fugly - it would probably be on the shortlist for my next car.

I test-drove a Mach-E last year, and aside from it being a crossover/SUV, there were a lot of little things that made me think "nope, this isn't for me", especially after test-driving an EV6 the previous week.

* not counting the "your airbag may randomly become a shotgun" recalls

I wanted a fun car, Ford hosed me, so I got a boring car.

It's not exactly an option rich market for EVs, especially if you need one soonish.

I believe the Vulcan made like 140hp. my friend was a fancy lad and had the Duratec 30 which actually was pretty decent for the time with 200 hp.

The hood length, rake of the windshield, rear quarter haunches, fake fastback, vertical tail lights with sequential turn signal, etc. Some of the ergonomic compromises are probably down to trying to keep some family resemblance rather than just making an SUV and slapping the Mustang logo on it.

LOL.

I just Googled, my giant SUV Mustang SUV is faster 0-60 than a 2002 Mustang GT.

It's just a car outfit, no one has ever come up to me accusing me of being fake performance athlete because I wear an Apple Watch Ultra.

Car looks like another car, people aren't angry that a Lexus NX is just a redecorated RAV4.

A bad comparison. Apple watches aren't known for implying sportiness and performance. Mustangs generally do imply sportiness and good performance.

That link led to a description of the Packard Astral and now I'm devastated at what might have been:

quote:

One unusual prototype, the Studebaker-Packard Astral, was made in 1957 and first unveiled at the South Bend Art Centre on January 12, 1958, and then at the March 1958 Geneva Motor Show. It had a single gyroscopic balanced wheel and the publicity data suggested it could be nuclear powered or have what the designers described as an ionic engine.

Still waiting for an allocation on my custom Bolt EUV order, but the dealership called me this morning saying a buyer had backed out on another EUV. Different trim level and boring-rear end gray, so I passed.

It might be a sign that with the car market potentially taking a downward turn, EVs may get easier to find/buy soon.
