I think some other fanbases have overtaken Sonic nowadays but I’m not sure if any of them have made life size character dolls made of human bones yet.

snoic generatons ultimate coming 2023

I'm reminded of someone's explanation of the strange amount of "christian sonic" stuff being chalked up to Sonic likely being the coolest/edgiest thing many christian kids had access to that didn't trip the "that must be satanic" alarm of their parents.

can't help but wonder if this, or similar factors contribute to the volume of weird sonic stuff.

It's weird, I was actually just thinking a couple of days ago what stages they should include if they were to do a hypothetical follow-up to Generations.

Assuming they have to use a brand new stage for each game so they can't fall back on Green Hill and Chemical Plant again, my picks would probably be...

Sonic 1: Starlight Zone
Sonic 2: Casino Night Zone
Sonic 3&K: Ice Cap Zone

Adventure: Emerald Coast
Adventure 2: Green Jungle, maybe? I feel like the choice would have to be one of the Sonic/Shadow stages, but there isn't really another one of their stages that's as iconic as City Escape...
Sonic Heroes: Another tough choice as I have almost no experience with this title. Hang Castle or the Egg Fleet seem like they have pretty good spectacle?

Sonic 06: Kingdom Valley
Sonic Unleashed: Dragon Road
Sonic Colors: Starlight Carnival

Sonic Lost World: Sky
Sonic Mania: Press Garden
Sonic Forces: I have never played this one and all the stages kind of look the same to me? Going just by screenshots Egg Gate and Capital City look like they have decent spectacle?

Sonic Frontiers: This one's hard just because the open world nature of it makes selecting a specific "Zone" to showcase kind of tricky, I think they'd probably just be able to make a course based on the Starfall Islands as a whole.

Honestly I think at least part of it can also be attributed to a similar phenomenon as what happens with the Christian Sonic stuff: A lot of the overall designs and aesthetics of the series are reminiscent of works usually aimed at the Saturday Morning cartoon-aged crowd, but it's also just edgy enough to scratch the itch of the slightly older, teenaged, DBZ-liking demographic. What results is a fandom with a really large segment comprised of teenagers who haven't quite outgrown the media from their childhood, but want to explore more mature themes and subject matters...Which is a demographic really likely to produce fan content that people on the internet will find baffling and/or alarming.

...

I don't think I have any disagreements on S1-3&K other then I'd love to have S2 HPZ but that's very "not going to happen."

Maybe throw in a Sonic CD stage as well. Palm Tree panic could be the "grassy green" stage for the game.

Sonic Adventure: Sky Deck (if no Egg Fleet from Heroes) or Final Egg (Cause I'd love a Tee Lopes remix)

Sonic Adventure 2: Please anything but Green Forest lol (It was kind of a good level and good music, I just think other stages would make more more interesting remakes)
Metal Harbor feels really memorable/iconic to me.
Crazy Gadget would fill a niche of "tech base" stage that I feel like your list lacks.
Radical Highway is Shadow's first stage and that "nightime city" feels like a memorable part of SA2's aesthetics. [Though Generations 1 had 2 and 1/2 city themed stages]
Final Rush/Chase are memorable aesthetics to me, but would be very strange to adapt into a 2D stage.
Twist option: Pumpkin Hill adapted

Sonic Heroes I'm also divided on your picks. Hang Castle has level theme that doesn't get used a lot, and Egg Fleet was really cool for the spectacle.

Also, I feel like there would have to be a gag where you have a "Sonic Generations" stage. (That either is just an interlude/hub for more bonuses, or like a little mashup of a bunch of stages.)

Honestly I kind of want one that adapts the portable games. Like:

Sonic 1: Bridge Zone
Sonic 2: Underground Zone
Sonic Chaos: Gigaopolis Zone
Sonic Triple Trouble: Sunset Park Zone
(sonic blast sucks and has no interesting levels so I’m skipping it)

Sonic Advance: Egg Rocket
Sonic Advance 2: Music Plant
Sonic Advance 3: Twinkle Snow

Sonic Rush: Water Palace was already adapted, so… Dead Line, maybe?
Sonic Rush Adventure: Sky Babylon
Sonic Colors: already had the best 2 levels adapted, so I guess… Sweet Mountain?

I'm sad we won't get to see this version of Silver's future developed :(

I really enjoyed the renewed use of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog characters and classic characters like Honey in the pre-IDW archie reboot, and now we'll likely never see them again in IDW outside of some of them in classic-era side stories, maybe. So many interesting interactions that will never be explored again.

For SA1 I'd mash up Sky Deck and Hot Shelter to make one big Egg Carrier stage. It's crazy that 06 brought it back and then only used it for the background of Sonic's final boss battle.

SA2's stage should use elements from different ARK stages like Crazy Gadget, Eternal Engine, Final Rush and Cannon's Core.

The ARK stages in Shadow the Hedgehog are the only ones that look like they have any art direction whatsoever. Westopolis is just gray, Sky Troops is brown, and the internet stage is painfully neon.

The tl;dr is that the reason there's so much weird sonic fanart out there is that there's a window of time where teenagers are hitting puberty, haven't yet hit the level of maturity where they can really verbally talk about what they're feeling, and Sonic was designed to be really easy to draw. Hence, tons of weird poo poo.

130 issues into Archie Sonic. Half the stories now are being written by aliases, whether it's Bollers's "Benny Lee" or Gabrie's "Romy Chacon". I understand the reasoning for an alias being used for editor-written stories, but not for when a writer uses it for lighthearted oneshots.

Speaking of Archie, did anyone ever find out who “Many Hands” was (or if the pen name was literal, what “artists” were part of it)?

All I know is that they’re incredibly lazy (the first special the name appeared in made several excuses to show nothing but blank panels and dialogue balloons for multiple pages)

The open world gameplay in Frontiers is fun enough, but I think I really don't like the level gameplay. Sonic feels hard to control in the side scrolling mode. I'm getting terrible scores all the time.

Many Hands was a generic Alan Smithee that several artists used when they weren't happy with their work but also didn't want to put in the effort it would take to polish the turd.

That Frontiers idea reminds me of a stage mod for Generations that's, like, a linear (but branching!) stage version of the Mystic Ruins from SA1, and a more polished official version of that would be really loving cool

SA2 has GOT to be either Final Rush or The Ark in general (probably called "Final Rush" still), although Pyramid Cave is sort of a dark horse second place.

Egg Fleet is the only real choice for Heroes.
I never played 06, Wave Ocean seems popular or sure Kingdom Valley why not?
I don't remember any stages from Colors besides Planet Wisp, it makes such an impression though.
For Lost World, can we cheat and have Nights?

And then for Sonic Mania, it HAS to be Studiopolis holy poo poo the music might be doing a lot of the work but that stage is the best.

Also a Sonic Generations "white zone" stage medley that colors in behind you would be a really loving cool finale if they could pull it off.

The boost definitely has a different feel to the physics. Or maybe that's not the right word. But I remember alot of cases where he feels more like a Tony Hawk game than a boost game. Sonic would launch off of small inclines a little too easily. It does take a bit of adapting compared to any of the other games. But once you get it, it really clicks and feels a bit better.

I think the options allow you to use some slider scales that will change how he handles too. And make his boosts less wild. But I never messed with any of them, so I'm not sure how much it helps.
