I am wondering how much of this is going to be faithful to the original mechanics wise. EO1 and 2 were developed by Lancarse, and do they even have the source code for that? They're redoing the localization so I wonder how much is changing. I don't expect huge stuff, seems like the map design is the same. At worst some mechanical oddities may get introduced. on one hand I'm really glad Etrian Odyssey is somewhat alive and got a mention/remake, on the other hand I did not enjoy the older ones and was more of a 4/5 person. I hope they're making EO6.

Stat wise the sea quest NPCs seem to have parity with the DS incarnations of them from what I could gleam from the trailers. I doubt there's any rebalancing happening. Chances are if there's mechanical changes, it'll be due to porting mistakes and whatnot.

Run speed is also being added in, as well as multiple save files. According to the Japanese website, Expert is the original difficulty of the DS games. Okay that enemy's stats match up with the DS version's data. So yeah between that and Troubadour still having infinite duration buffs, I'm pretty sure rebalancing isn't happening. At best they'll bugfix some game crashes and stuff. The other issue with rebalancing skills is that more of the game would have to be rebalanced, which is probably not something they're willing to do. For example, if Immunize in EO1 gets nerfed, you just made Primevil much much harder to actually beat, and that superboss is already a pile of horseshit.

I would have been more excited by a new game announcement, but coming to Steam and HD EO3 are both very good things. The price is rear end but I'm gonna get the 3-pack anyways so they have gotten away with it.

This feels like a misstep to me, I don't really think remasters of 1, 2, and 3 are gonna do much to bring in a new audience to the series, and I certainly don't have any interest in this collection. E: Jesus especially at 80 dollars, no thanks

Mother loving ETRIAN ODYSSEY The price points loving suck, so the strategy for if you want to buy these is buy all three, or only buy EO3. Pretty excited to see how much they'll change, they might even fix some backend stuff by accident, even if they're keeping things the same, just because of how much of a mess the first two games are. Still, EO2 is a fine enough game to play, bit unbalanced, but still a good EO experience if you're curious. EO1 is a lot rougher to get into, I wouldn't call it bad, but the game is pretty rude to you, loves to waste your time, and can be loving irritating at times. Only get it if you're really curious, but you're not missing out. But goddamn, a "new" Etrian Odyssey game. It's only been 4 years since Nexus, but goddamn.
