That’s what I run it on, with a screaming fast GeForce4 4600ti. :getin:

I don’t think that OS9 can use two processors though, although certain apps like Photoshop can, from what I’ve heard.

Ran 8.1 last night for the first time in a long time. Man, I have a ton of nostalgia for the 8.X aesthetic that I didn’t even realize I had. A bunch of the computers at school when I was a kid must have been running it is my guess

They've lost the plot in terms of naming. I still can't believe they have a phone called "iPhone 14 Pro Max" that's like naming I'd expect from a generic electric toothbrush.

"Air" should have been a branding that lasted for a year tops.

Beve Stuscemi

“Air” should at least be standardized.

On the MacBook it means the least powerful, but also physically smallest model

On the iPad it means more powerful than the base unit and has nothing to do with size, really

On the iPhone and Mac, they call the smallest model the Mini, not the Air

It’s weird.

I had a model similar to this one, bought at about the same time. Mine didn't have a sound card, though. My parents bought it, so I don't remember a price exactly, but I don't recall it being anywhere near as expensive. They did get it from Walmart and it's quite possible they had some super duper cheap version there but with similar specs. The modem was a 14.4. Didn't complain because the modem on the previous computer was 2400 baud.

Within a year, Dad had to buy 2 gigs of storage space.

I stuck to external modems all the way until the start of the broadband era. Nice and easy to transplant, plus you get to watch das blinkenlights. (At speeds as high as 2400 bps, I could tell the difference between xmodem and zmodem file transfers just by watching the send and receive lights.)

Our external 56k modem was translucent aqua plastic like the coolest iMac. It had a headphone jack on top which I never understood. Other than listening to the dial-up sound what was the purpose for that?

Oh hai look what I brought today:

It has been used, or at least the plastic protective case has been opened on the CPU. And it is missing the cool Pentium Pro case label. Got another Pentium Pro 200 from the same seller, however it was the CPU only, nothing else.

I wonder what the chances of me finding a Pentium Pro motherboard these days
