But as soon as you put a name to 'thing that already exists' the paranoid right will immediately take against it as some sinister plot to undermine our way of life. Especially if you start proposing that there should be more of them and that might require some people to experience a change of lifestyle or some aspect of society and large impacting on their daily routine. I've been replying a lot to Kelvin MacKenzie on twitter over the past couple of weeks attacking his fascist opinions, and I didn't get a single bite. So I switched tactic, knowing absolutely nothing about his personal life, and replied to his latest tweet "I can totally see why your family wants nothing to do with you". I was blocked within 30 seconds.

The Metrobus is still ok if you want to get into the city centre without spending 45 minutes doing laps of Bradley Stoke first.

I was a bit old for the HP books (first came out when I was a teen iirc) but I tried reading it and was just ‘This is Jennings except bad, with a poo poo magic system thrown on top’. I’m almost those exact words. (I have not dared look at a Jennings book since I hit puberty, and prior to that was roundly bullied at my own public school for reading them, but even though I’m sure they’re plenty problematic today I doubt they’re Potter levels of offensive).

Harry potter was readable when it came out and you were 11. 20 years on you pick it back and realise the entire series of books are endless plot holes, bad decisions by everyone involved, incredibly stupid retconning and incredibly lazy plots. I wouldnt read it to my kids now because jk rowling sucks poo poo. Looking forward to reading them terry pratchett though  The best roll model is as you say, star trek. Particularly TNG.
