I used to loving *love* Starlight Express. Did you know it used to have a storyline and there was an evil caboose character who was deliberately wrecking trains and killing people? And then they took that out because I dunno it was too much story or something?

Ah, poo poo, sorry. It looks like many years ago someone sold me a false etymology of "mass" in the religious sense (i.e. that it is a gathering). It apparently has an entirely separate etymology, and that's just a coincidence. Mea culpa.

Just want to throw in that unless you're doing something clever, rhyming a word with the same word is like the smallest effort you can possibly make.

Also War Pigs is fine but it's not a profound thing left behind by a wise elder.

You know what song always annoyed me? That Katy Perry one about hot/cold, yes/no, wrong/right whatever. I haven't heard the song in years but I am pretty sure there is actually only like one set of rhyming words in that entire song.

I mean, not to get into an argument about assonance, the second smallest effort you can make.

The Turtles - Happy Together posted:

It's the same thing said twice. The only one for me is you. You're the only one for me. It's just words rearranged. There's no reciprocal inverse.

I mean, this is also a song that contains

So happy together...
how is the weather?

That's kind of the point of the song. The singer is mooning over someone who has absolutely no idea they're into them (or possibly even that they exist) and the song focuses entirely on the singer's feelings about it because they're a creepy weirdo.

Also "The only one for me is you" and "The only one for you is me" are not the same statement. One person may feel more strongly than the other, so even if I am the only one for YOU, I might have other priorities, so assuming that you are the only one for me is weird and controlling.

Its not saying that though, its:

'The only one for me is you
and you for me'

The two statements you are saying, and what people would presume not thinking about the lyrics, is if it was:

'The only one for me is you
and me for you'

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, basically its not saying what you're implying its just the same sentence twice.
