13 hours is how long it'll take me to get to MCO from London so I can't imagine how tired I'd be after that length of a drive.

Tiffins for sure. Nothing else comes close.

Otherwise, the best foodie food is going to be at the resorts and not in the parks. California Grill, Sanaa, Jiko, etc.

What are some good ones (for the adults) who are "foodies" I guess. As in we will prioritize culinary talent over ambiance.

If this is an impossible question, my apologies.

With a 3 year old, you probably are fine taking time off from the parks to eat at the resorts. California grill and Jiko are great suggestions, as is Sanaa. The restaurants at Grand Floridian are also all pretty highly rated, I think.

I do have a question, though - when you say "foodies," do you mean you're seeking out the best food available (and are willing to pay for it), or just that you'd prefer to something better than a theme park burger and would prefer to avoid a gimmicky meal? There are plenty of good table service restaurants that fit into that second category without breaking the bank.

So this is a tough one as it's hard to recommend things without your total itinerary. Some folks are good with a 2-3 hour detour to eat, some folks want to just eat at whatever park they're at. Dining at Disney parks or the resorts is different to me than dining at Disney Springs. Disney Springs has some legit restaurants, the parks and resorts have a few good ones, but most of them are geared towards appealing to a mass audience. There's also the question of if you want to do any character dining with the 3yo. Lots of folks do character meals with young ones as it's a great way to see a bunch of characters in a short amount of time and get some good pictures.

The restaurants that book up the fastest are the character dining meals/buffets and those are the ones you need to be online for 60 days out or whatever it is these days (it used to be 180 days!). The main point of these is the character interactions, not the food. Before I get going, I'm a pretty harsh critic of Disney Dining these days so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I don't think any in park dining is "can't miss". There's a few restaurants that are worth your time, but most of them will not appeal to a 3 year old. There's only a few restaurants that would come close to "culinary talent". (Not a shot at the hard working culinary employees at Disney, just most restaurants are setup to appeal to a broad swath of the general public).

In park dining:

Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom might be something you're interested in.

Tiffins in Animal Kingdom fits the bill.
I still like the Tusker House buffet. It's the only character meal we still do when we visit and to me the only one that comes close to "worth the price". If you shoot for a late breakfast reservation you can probably get access to the lunch foods as well. The Fab 5 characters are there, and it's a solid character dining experience.

Hollywood Studios doesn't really have any standout dining except for The Hollywood Brown Derby, and even then I'm not sure if I think it would fit a foodie criteria. It's the best option there though.

EPCOT, now there is a wealth of solid dining options here. Too many to really go over. Some folks like myself prefer to just graze around EPCOT and eat from whatever festival booths are open. I could spend a 5 day vacation just eating around the world at EPCOT pretty easily.

Resort dining:
California Grill at the Contemporary (especially Brunch) is solid. A bit pricey but I'll go back.

Ohana Breakfast buffet at the Polynesian isn't a bad choice if you're looking for a breakfast character meal. Who doesn't love Stitch? No culinary magic happening here, just a good environment and good character buffet.

The Grand Floridian has some nice restaurants. I've never been to them so I can't speak to them. Victoria & Alberts is an experience for sure if you're into that thing. Citrico's menu looks like it might be an option.

Topolino's Terrace at the Riviera is worth a look. That's going to be a bit of a detour though.

Disney Springs:

Now this is where it's at. DS has some amazing restaurants.

Morimoto's is a must do for me on every trip. I had the tasting menu at Jaleo by José Andrés and I still talk about that meal years later, worth every penny. The Edison has a cool vibe to it and the food was really good. The Boathouse was a great experience. I don't think there' really a bad restaurant in Disney Springs. Some are overrated as hell (Homecomin' and Chicken Guy) but still solid.

I can talk about this stuff for days, and there's entire youtube channels dedicated to disney dining.

TL;DR You generally only need to worry about 60 day out reservations if you want to do in park character dining, those go quick.

Last time I was there (which to be fair, was ages ago), I remember the reel only being like 15 or 20 minutes and then repeating. Is that still the case? It felt like a huge lost opportunity to not show some actual (short) films on there, or to at least put together a couple hours worth of trailers so nobody would see any repeats.

Sci-fi Dine In is my favorite place. The food is good for American food, but the atmosphere is some of the best on property. Just make sure you don't get a car near the kitchen if you have hearing issues like me. It can be loud and make it hard to hear the movie.

Actually, wtf ever happened to Be Our Guest? It's a little more than a decade old now, but I remember when it first opened it was really drat good. Reservations were insanely hard to come by early on, but we ran into a small miracle on my wife's birthday in 2013 and ate there. It was exceptionally good. The next time we went, which was 2015 I think, it was terrible. We got in one more time in 2022 (almost a year ago to the day today), and it was even worse.

As for Sci-Fi, I love the ambience but the food sucks. The burgers are ok, but on par with maybe Ruby Tuesday or Chili's, and it's the only decent thing they have.

Tony's, Crystal Palace and Hollywood & Vine are all somehow worse though.

I like Mama Melrose though. I've always had good meals from there, but I also haven't eaten there since before the pandemic began so I don't know if it's still any good.
