If anyone feels like their podcasts aren't releasing any new episodes the past 2 weeks, update Overcast. The new version presumably broke the API used by the previous version.

The Weather Channel and Weather Underground are most accurate in my area (Michigan).

I’ve found that looking at the radar is the only real way to determine whether a slight chance of rain is actually a guaranteed downpour and the radar map in the new weather app fails to load for me about nine times out of ten and is extremely low resolution and blotchy when it does

Does it take zelle 100 years to log in for anyone else? I don’t use it much but it’s the longest log in of any app I’ve got.

Dark Sky was always the worst and since Apple Weather switched interfaces it’s been wrong exactly how Dark Sky was wrong.

Was it raining at the closest airport or something? It’s my understanding that weather services get data from weather stations located in places like airports and the like. I’m not trying to defend Apple’s apparently poo poo weather forecasts but pointing out that there’s probably a reason and that reason is probably out of Apple’s control.

What do people use for package tracking? I was using Deliveries but they’re in a subscription model now and the FedEx API or whatever doesn’t function anymore. This doesn’t necessarily need to be an iOS app. Could be a web app or similar.

iOS is pretty good about identifying tracking numbers so I tap the number in the email and tap the link to load the results in safari. But I guess if you're dealing with high volumes that would get pretty annoying.

Parcel is one of the very few subscription apps I’ll happily pay for because it Just Works and it’s an extremely reasonable price.

MarcusSA posted:Fwiw I linked my debit card to the app which seriously limits what I can do. I can’t pay businesses or anything over $500. Yeah the $500 limit is bogus. If your bank doesn’t outright support Zelle, the weekly limit is $500. No way around it. This is the bucket I’m in since my bank uses Pop Cash or some poo poo, but my toddlers’ daycare needs Zelle, so I’m stuck with the limit. My weekly payment is $500, so I hope she doesn’t raise her prices before they het to kinder… The limit is way higher if your bank does support it.

The Zelle app just tells me I'm already signed up for it through my bank, which I definitely am not, so that's useless.

It was one of those mixed post office and FedEx situations though (think it's called FedEx sure post). I haven't had a sole FedEx shipment to test it. Also, yea I just use Zelle because it's part of my bank app. So I didn't have to make a new account or anything and money goes to/from my bank account.

I use whatever the money-getter uses. Except for Zelle since my credit union doesn't support it. If only we had a simple, mandatory method of direct bank transfers like Europe, but unfortunately, that would be socialism and not freedom.

The amount of off the books childcare places is exponentially higher than anyone other than people with small children suspect. It's also pricy enough that I don't blame people for going with "cash only" methods to help save a bit on costs. It's kind of insane, we applied to every non-sketch place in the area right after we found out kiddo 1 was coming and we're still waitlisted on all of them nearly 2 years in.

Daycares are the wild west and many spawn out of avoiding legal action as they get too big. I say this as someone with two kids in daycare now and it's just like welp hope one of the workers that genuinely wants to be there gets my daughter today and not any of the ones that truly don't give a poo poo and just want a paycheck, fun!

I don't have a kid but this sounds like something that would turn me off from that particular daycare if I had a kid. If they're going to skip out on business related expenses/paperwork like this what else are they doing?
