When does Archie pivot to pivoting between Betty and Veronica? That 50s parody strip was mocking him for having a hard time choosing (because it called them identical) but in this early stuff he almost totally disregards Betty.

Our Boarding House (July 16-18, 1923)

Toonerville Folks (September 16-18, 1920; timg'd not because of the gag itself, but the caption has implications)

As long as we're tracking headlines across the various oldies, the front page story on September 16th was a horsecart bomb exploding on Wall Street. 40 deaths, 143 injuries, and although it was eventually believed to be tied to an Italian anarchist group motivated by the Sacco and Vanzetti case, it remains an unsolved investigation to this day. The man who historians now consider the prime suspect died of old age.

Dok's "Teary Farewells (To That Bulging Suitcase)" Duck (August 2, 1914)

The news in Europe gave this story a fairly decent way out. As if that was the big takeaway from that banner headline.

We rag on Holbrook for creating Hellworlds, or doing body horror, or on his obsession to the point of fetish with pregnancy, with next to zero self awareness, but i feel it should also be pointed out that he is also *terrible* at writing exposition

That third panel of the first comic just makes it. It's still funny if you remove it, but that panel included just makes it top tier.

I also want to complain about this current storyline where people are forcing the one couple to have a big expensive wedding. I don't really have the time to fully put my thoughts together on why it bothers me, but the idea of them receiving a large sum of money to be used only on satisfying a tradition they didn't seem that interested in really rubs me the wrong way.

What a panel 4. Dude lost a quarter of his hand in the same strip... maybe his head absorbed the mass to grow bigger. It's not even the same head panel to panel, is it copy/pasted from an earlier strip?
