its weird that jeff and the admins constantly claim the posters of each sub should develop and propagate their own culture but we're not allowed to pick our own mods or more importantly, recall mods easily when they turn out to be bad at it.

idk. it's all a bit weird to me. the same scenarios keep repeating. i think there may be a loop curse in some forums code. or someone is hexing the mods into acting the fool? the explanation wont be mundane

I figured that extended to other folks who were doing the same thing. I guess not.

croup coughfield posted:what did you find annoying about it? what did some of the reports say was annoying? For me just posting “bump” when reviving these threads instead of, I dunno, posting something funny and original just reads like you’re trying to be annoying, which, hey, mission accomplished I guess. Folks who reported or PMed said that they think it’s annoying too. Some are having trouble picking out old threads from new ones. It’s a pretty basic complaint.

the people who reported bumped threads should be harshly punished

a hot tip for mods in the future, while im in this generous mood: when someone reports being annoyed that the posts they want to appear on the first page appear on the second, perhaps that report can be disregarded

i like it when random years old threads get bumped cause its a fun blast from the past i honestly cannot understand how that sort of thing upsets anyone. Don't most ppl just stick to their thread bookmarks anyways?
|
# ? Feb 16, 2023 18:26 |

ive never used bookmarks and never will. i can sort of understand people getting disoriented by new threads floating up and being miffed but that is how forums work. i really think making up rules on the spot and blasting "Placeholder" on people is going to lead to bad times. just from a mechanics standpoint every placeholder a mod uses that does not result in a stronger replacement punishment is going to reduce your authority and right to rule. it can also result in a unique nickname. i think people really tend to overlook the dialogue options in favor of their abilities but you'll end up missing some of the best moments doing that.

most people don't ever try dialogue on AIT after the first few times but eventually he does stop calling you the r-word if you pick the right options

i liket to use bookmarks but i also like to look at cspam for new or bumped threads, and also in particular to sort by new
