The Hestia was already pretty close to a total equal to the lifetime subscription Destroyer, and now it has a mirror version that totally surpasses it unless you’re trying to find a mediocre torpedo boat.

Isn't there a good chance that the PIC S3 will have Elachi as one of the antagonists? Before STO their only appearance was unnamed and mute mystery aliens in one episode of Enterprise.

I hope so. Auralnaughts (if anyone doesn't know please watch their parody videos, they're amazing) suggested Evil Bad Lady was Soren's daughter. As in the fellow who killed Kirk. (may not be spoiler, IDK)

If that's remotely true I have less than zero idea but it sounded neat.

Yeah, part of the reason we have so many Miranda variants is because CBS kept redressing the models for the show. :v:

Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

DS9 too. Once you got into the Dominion War era and they just needed a fuckload of background poo poo you start to see some weird crap, both practical models that they physically kitbashed and CGI stuff where they basically did what we do in STO.

One of my favorites is the "USS Yeager" which is where they took the saucer from an Intrepid and stapled it to the rear end-end of the Maquis Raider model that they used for Chakotay's ship.

There's another Intrepid kitbash where they gutted out the hull/engine section of a F-14 model of all things, backwards, to create a kind of double-lower hull/deflector dish (the engines of the F-14 model if you can picture that) and then glued on some TOS-movie era warp nacelles and misc other greebles.

A teratogen is anything a person is exposed to or ingests during pregnancy that's known to cause fetal abnormalities. Drugs, medicine, chemicals, certain infections and toxic substances are examples of teratogens."

I don't see the relation.

It's a superfluous nacelle. It's a mutant ship that shouldn't exist in a healthy ecosystem. :colbert:

The thing about those ones is that they weren't originally intended to literally be what you can see in detail photographs, they were built to be 5-pixel-high roughly Starfleet looking shapes you can barely make out in the background. Publishing photos and details on them later was a mistake, in my opinion.

Like how on modern DVD you can clearly see the cardboard and wood cut-outs on old classic doctor who sets. Looks laughable. At the time it was plenty good enough for broadcast TV because people generally couldn't see the fine details like that with the resolution quality available. Or more recently (kind of) on Stargate Atlantis when they swapped production methods for more high-res and "water damage on the walls" was suddenly and very obviously just badly applied paint complete with visible brush strokes.

If, for some reason, you want to use MVAM mode on the new Hydra, fear not- the HYDRA console has a bonus built-in MVAM mode for all Prometheus variants. There is no need to buy the T5 Multi-Vector Advanced Escort, ever.

Naturally, this happens after I got the t5 with the anniversary coupon. -_-

Which I suppose means at this point no t6 coupon for the anniversary like last year. Pity.

I remember watching one of the early TNG episodes when it came out on blu-ray, and Crusher's medical scanner had very obvious painted-over wood grain patterns in it.

The real obvious stuff in HD for me is all the matter painted corridors and rooms and such that were just a tiny little set with a background matte painting. It looked fine on tiny old CRT TVs! Same thing with all thr excessive clown makeup so the facial features would be visible across the room from a flickering 13" screen.

It’s discovery characters on most ships, and any other faction character transwarping out or in while in one of the various crossfields.

I still have my "Even Campaign IV" reward box and I'm trying to decide between

1 -> Voth Carrier so that I have all 3 pieces of the Voth set for some reason

2 -> Ba'ul Sentry Vessel for some silly sci shenanigans (although I already have a fully kitted SciToon Alt)

3 -> Styx because it's new and shiny?

or is there a better option than these three?

It’s hard to answer that question without knowing everything you already have from that lockbox, along with how much you’re invested in maximizing your DPS, what sort of builds you like, etc.

There’s probably a list of 3-5 ships that could be listed as “best” if you’re just scrounging for traits or consoles. And after that, maybe another 10 that have situational value. But if you have a lot of those and/or don’t care about completing TFOs like 5% faster, then not much anyone can advise you on aside from everyone’s personal opinions about which ships look best.

Fidel Cuckstro
Jul 2, 2007

Here’s a post I did back in August about good meta traits/consoles in the latest campaign lockbox. I think there some other good posts about that topic at that time as well.

But all of this is contingent on a lot of what you have, what you’ll pay for, and what you actually care about.

Fidel Cuckstro posted:

Just scanning the promo and infinity boxes for stuff that tends to come up as 'meta' (realized/forgot that the Arbiter was also C-store)

Discovery Flight Deck Cruiser- D7 miracle worker: aside from bring a great ship overall, the 'Ruin of our Enemies' starship trait is rated very highly. You need to be Klingon or have cross-faction flying though to get it
Demios Pilot Destroyer- already mentioned, but you'd probably want to go watch some youtube videos on the phaser lance meta, to understand if you want to pursue this
Mirror Warship- 'Terran Goodbye' trait is rated highly
Atlas- already mentioned, and DPRM is a very easy standby. Nice damage output increase, and a great 'oh poo poo' button for a ship otherwise optimized for DPS over survival

Looking over the Quark build STO Better has for BO (which is a little more up to date than DPS League I think): https://sites.google.com/view/stobetter/intro-builds/eph289/quark

A lot of the consoles and traits are lobi or c-store, which makes them a little easier to get. But on the other hand there's probably more things that are desirable from old event ships (DOMINO from the bajoran interceptor, Cold Hearted from the Breen Raider) that'll require a Phoenix Event token to get these days.

Thanks for the helpful post, narrowing it down to a few really helped. There's just so many on that list, makes it a little overwhelming.

As far as traits go, I have most of the Store Buyable traits. The ones I use most are:
Calm Before Storm Target Rich Environment
Critical Subsystems The Best Diplomat
Emergency Weapon Cycle Withering Barrage
Entwined Tactical Matrices Superweapon Ingenuity
Improved Command Fequency Spore Infused Anomolies
Improved Gravity Well Preferential Targeting
Overpowered Overgunned Peak Efficiency

For gear I have fully yellowed15 Cannon and Beam setup.

Think I'll probably go for the Terran Goodbye trait. I'm sure I can find space for it

You don't even have to do that. SB1 is the laziest queue imaginable. You can start the queue and literally walk away from it and come back to a completed TFO and rewards 12 minutes later.

I guess just don't talk about doing that in chat. I know someone who just picked up a temp game suspension for "AFKing" because he complained in chat that server lag was making his solo-AFK run take longer than it should.

In other words, Cryptic has heard players complaining about bots AFKing and is handling it in the worst possible way - banning players (the ones who talk about it) instead of bots (who never chat because they're bots).

Yeah it's honestly a pretty good episode overall.

... Except for the fact it should have been two episodes. There's just way too much going on in this, it takes like 30 minutes even if you're rushing through dialogue and skipping cutscenes, and there's no reason they couldn't have split the space stuff and ground stuff into two different episodes (or split the defensive battle stuff from the megastructure assault/ground battle.) It's another loving example of someone on the team or at gearbox or whatever being obsessed with making sure people log in for twenty minutes a day for metrics no matter what. :geno:

Yeah, I was skipping all the dialogue and cutscenes because I don't give a poo poo. They're space Nazis, and the only thing I desire from them in a story role is to explode them.

Still, credit to Cryptic for making the first story episode I've done since the end of Victory is Life because the fancy death animations from digitizer weapons made me fit out an alt around them.

I wish this game did more megastructure assaults, or even something like raiding Mirror Utopia Planitia. Go on the offensive and put players into a target rich environment to blow poo poo up piece by piece.

Really wish if you were a TOS captain they made the inquisitor and their away team direct copies of your existing characters but with sashes and also black goatees, regardless of your actual hair color or gender.

To be fair, they at least made my inquisitor wear the Zeon helmet, so it kinda worked out.
