This reminds me of that one MythBusters episode where they tried to test the "myth" of pissing on an electric fence, and said things along the lines of "obviously this myth is false because, as everyone knows, piss just dribbles out of your dick as a couple sad drops and would never be able to make a coherent stream" which is hilarious to me, as my piss has a strong continuous laminar flow for the whole distance hog-to-toilet

Honestly like 90% of these "out of control" incidents, regardless of car make, are the result of the driver confusing the gas and brake. As the car accelerates they panic and stomp down harder on what they think is the brake pedal and keep going until they crash. That or the pedal really did get stuck down, but it was because the driver took off their shoes and one rolled underneath and got stuck, or they put in an extra thick rubber floor mat, or something. I wouldn't doubt that Teslas do go out of control more than other cars, even when they aren't on autopilot, but yeah the safe bet in every one of these situations is driver error.
