Crusher is located at the edge of Federation space. Picard needs a ship that can travel at warp 9.99 so that he can reach her in a matter of hours instead of days or weeks. Even though Crusher warned him not to involve Starfleet, the only ship nearby that can do this is the Titan.

The writers had all the pieces they needed, they just failed to put them together.

People here have definitely discussed the why, but in fairness it gets drowned out by lots of weird anti-fan fiction about the producers and "critiques" by people who admit they didn't even watch

Of course the guy is like WTF? No.

Also they just left spacedock but Seven flies them to the edge of Fed space in a couple hours while the captain is asleep? Shouldn't that take weeks? Also, how long has she even been in Starfleet? Going from homicidal Ranger to Commander in a few years seems awfully fast. Maybe they shouldn't have fast-tracked her career since she commandeered the ship immediately. You know what might have actually been nice to see? They show up in orange jello space, Picard and Riker go to the bridge and say something like "Seven! Your career will be over!" and right then Captain Shaw walks onto the bridge and says "Commander Hansen told me of your predicament and I ordered the ship here. I trust her judgement and if we don't find your friend, maybe we can impress Starfleet with our ridiculously fast warp drive".

Captain Shaw did nothing wrong

This makes sense if you simply assume that each season of Picard is in a different universe, each exploring a different what if scenario following catching up with Picard 20 years after Nemesis. Nothing in the previous two seasons happened or matters in this one. Raffi was always at war with Eurasia the captain of La Sirena and a Starfleet spy in this one. Rios? Elnor? never heard of em.

We see one with an NCC designation, so at least a few.

Also finish Prodigy, the show ends very strong.

If Riker and Android Picard had chartered a ship, then the show runners would have no reason to use the Titan-A/Stargazer bridge set they spent all of their allowance on, right? You gotta have a bridge set for the core Star Trek stuff like leaving space dock and getting to say 'engage' when you go to warp, having the daughter of a famous character fly the ship. That's like the core Star Trek right there...

Or they could have just not done Season 2 and kept everyone in the roles they started with at the beginning of Season 2 on the Stargazer and it would have solved a lot these problems. But I'm not Terry Matalas, Master Storyteller.

It's probably for the best to forget all of S1 and S2. I hope they never bring up the fact that picard is now a synthetic golem.

Probably best to put all that romulan sword elf and mass effect rip off bullshit behind as well.

Just seems odd that everyone would forget that the federation just made peace with a faction of borg, ones that can traverse space and time... who might be able to reach that edge of federation space faster than even the titan... but oh well.

They called it a golem on the show, I imagine because the spark of life came from shoving Picard's consciousness into it.

Again, I've never seen another TV show that was literally just three different TV shows stapled together by a shared title and main actor like Picard. Each season is actively at war with every choice made by the previous season(s). I'm surprised there wasn't active donnybrook fistfights in the writers room over this poo poo. Like I'm picturing Michael Chabon with Terry Matalas's fat goony head in a headlock just pummelling him with a stapler until he's dragged away by security because Matalas told him they were deleting Zhaban from the story or something.

Brace yourself. Season 2 is going to be an endless string of "Where the hell is [previously star billed character on the show]?" They all get left behind in various bars. I'm not joking.

I could only get like halfway through season 1, didn't even watch season 2, and so far 1 episode in on season 3, I don't feel like theres a single thread or element i'm missing.

It feels like season 1 of a new show is what I mean, the last 2 seasons of the show aren't even apparently required viewing to start watching it.

I wonder if the reason we didn't see the other TNG cast earlier was because the actors could command a huge salary. After all, no one else could play them and this would be their biggest payday.

I mostly hate the re-hash reference fest that is modern star wars, so I respected Picard S1's choice to go somewhere completely different with it, it is just disappointing the direction they went down was so poorly written.
