You have a good point, various domestic/US foods are notorious for never involving large amounts of sauce or multiple sauces.

Chili dogs, chili cheese fries, stadium style nachos, dipped Chicago beef sandwiches, buffalo wings slathered in sauce then dipped into more sauce, Animal style anything at In-and-Out, Americanized burritos drowned in cheese sauce and salsas and sometimes also chili for good measure, Cinci style chili over pasta or rice, loaded baked potatoes/chili and nacho cheese sauce topped baked potatoes, every southern or midwestern US "salad" or casserole that is 90% mayo or cream of something soup - all very dry and sauceless!

Yeah, sloppy, saucy food is just "their" thing.

Nice meltdown. Hey, just like the jizzing volcano!

My point was that pretty much every culture likes sauces. They're a foundational part of modern cuisine, and not-at-all modern cuisine. It does seem pretty myopic to point it out like the people in these videos are not doing what essentially happens with indulgent food anywhere, just in combinations and configurations that don't seem so commonplace to you that you ignore them.

What about this list of dishes that in no way resemble what was posted? Huh? How about that? You think moisture as an inherent, foundational element of edible food is any different from just dumping multiple bags and jars of sauce onto a jiggling pyramid of meat?? Hey buster, you know what I don't like on my food? Xenophobia. Yeah. That's right. Chew on that for a bit and see if you still have an appetite for doing racism.

If it's anywhere near as messy as a Phila. roast pork on a long roll with diced fresh onions: with both hands, and leaning over the curb from the sidewalk. Bring your own towel.

Haha that's funny, I'd never heard of these before and last week found a recipe I was going to try

Does this seem like a reasonable approximation?

It looks like two of those but stacked and shaped into a cone wth extra cheese on top. So probably messier.

It is, and broccoli rabe is delicious; I prefer however, to have just the pork and raw onions. I like the favor of good Italian roast pork, and find that the provolone (especially sharp provolone) masks the pork. I would suggest trying it this way your first time, but as we all know, tastes are entirely subjective, and the article and recipe look like the correct sandwich that you'd get unless specifying pork only. And maybe onions.

The gravy (broth, really) soaked into the good & proper hoagie roll is a divine finisher.

I had recently gone to Philly and took a detour to get one of those sandwiches first thing in the late morning. (They didn't start taking orders for those particular sandwiches until about 11am)

Totally worth it and would do it again if I were to be in the Philly/Camden area. Would still take public transit because the drivers there are loving crazy and I've had to deal with NYC and Jersey Shore traffic.
