At some point you do have to choose to side with the raiders or settlers in the vault heist, so it you want to get all the achievements, I think you need a second character. You can play through both lines right up to the decision, though. I think that's the only instance I've encountered.

And the rewards you otherwise would have earned with one decision can be bought after the story wraps that up after you raise your reputation with the offended faction.

Some really don't care. If it's something they ain't using it either goes on the floor or in the vending machine for dirt cheap. I've found some exceptionally rare stuff for really cheap over the years.

Ultracite Cal Shocks for 100 caps, Asylum Uniform (Red) for 200, Fixer plan for 500 (1st week after Encryptid was added in), Bear Arm mod plans for 100 each, etc. pp.

Sometimes it's worth it to just hop servers and check player vendors.

Yeah, I sided with the settlers but Mortimer still shows up in the Crater core and sells stuff.

Also agreed on the Pitt. In all the expeditions I've done I've not raised enough stamps for even a cheap plan, it's ridiculous how tight stamps are compared to gold bullion.

The factions have a few exclusive items that need a high level of faction standing to buy but you can EVENTUALLY unlock everything. You will get the required standing a lot quicker if you do the story quests for both as far as you can, up until it forces you to choose.

To make up the rest you do dailies for whichever faction plus the "take a picture" daily has a way to do it for a little extra standin for either faction. The newer faction oriented events are a big help as well.

Nope, you just may have to grind some reputation for the higher level goodies, as most plans and rewards are linked to reputation status.

And the Pitt has turned out to be a huge disappointment for me and my buddy. We should have known not to get our hope too high... Ooooh, a new area, ripe for exploring! Nope, glorified Daily Op with rewards that take forever and a day to earn.

It's most likely intended to get eyes on the shop, just like the daily freebie. During the anniversary around Halloween they had a extra freebie in a random page and it was pretty effective at getting me to flip through the shop.

Monetizing makes for some real dumb/bad/questionable choices.

Just jumped into an SBQ event that literally nobody but the guy that fired the nuke joined. I came with a gatling gun because I was out of ammo for the Final Word and woof... I ended up using over 2000 rounds, not even accounting for the ones I picked up. I'm glad chainsaws are busted as hell, or we may not have downed her in time. I had to fix mine three times, all told.

I never realized how many scorched spawn on the ground during that event.

I'm kinda interested in the cryo shotgun and turrets but a bit underwhelmed by most of the other things I saw on the board. I've been having a pretty good time just playing full-on scoreboard/shooting gallery style though, so maybe I will just keep on grinding for now.

I ended up having to pitch dozens of units of bulk last night, no buyers at the moment. Someone finally came and cleaned out most of my stock last night, but nobody will touch Bone, Leather, Rubber or Steel and I get a TON of them scrapping weapons. I can blow off steel making rail spikes, but the rest just accumulates.

I would sell them for less at an npc vendor, but I can easily wipe them out just selling food and grenades. It's too bad players can't set up buy orders in their vendors, I would totally make rounds to get some more caps.

Haven't had a closer look at the rewards so I'm not sure I care about anything but the Jetpack but we'll see. :)

I honestly wouldn't bother selling junk. Especially not Bulked because the only junk items that profit (in terms of weight) from getting bulked are Lead and Aluminium and even that is questionable since bulking costs plastic. Keep some for yourself and just dump the rest on someone with 1st, a newbie or sell it to a bot.

Only things I sell are Serums and, sometimes, plans.

I'm just starting to spin up some serum production as a way to burn off stable flux and I.. Have not had great luck selling any yet. I've picked up Speed Demon, Marsupial, Carnivore and Healing Factor, trying to shoot for the most popular serums that I would also use that each use a different type of flux. I think I've sold one Marsupial, but I guess it is kind of a slow patch in the season.

I was having great luck and had people clearing my inventory daily but at some point I picked up the pace accruing and the buyers stopped buying.

Selling just about anything is pure luck. Low levels usually don't buy serums since you need Starched Genes to not worry about accidential healing and most low levels ignore that perk until much later. High levels make their own or clean you out to resell them.

For junk, high levels rarely need it since, let's face it, junk is everywhere in the Wasteland, you just need to know where to look. Low levels need lots for armor, weapons and ammo but as they level up they, too, learn where to look.

Since the new season starts in a couple of hours I'm assuming that lots of people will make their return so you might see a lot more customers for a couple of weeks but the only thing that seems to always attract people are weapons, plans and apparel.

Went shopping for plans and was invited into some random whale's enormous house and nested shelters that he had, I would soon discover, meticulously crafted into a mannequin whorehouse and sex dungeon, complete with a chalkboard price list, a TV helpfully labelled "PORN" and countless rooms with scenes like this:

I cannot imagine how many hours and how much money he must have put into this, the place was absolutely huge and he seemingly owned every piece of furniture ever released. I first began questioning my choices when I was led into a basement club and a sign said "ADULT XXX". We descended through multiple stories of increasingly demented wank fodder as he kept doing the point and laugh emote. My journey ended at something he'd labelled "SUCK FLY", a wall-mounted bloatfly head, upon which I demonstratively bolted for the exit. I was simply aghast at how much effort this person put into arranging his fuckdolls, I wish I'd taken more screenshots.

Had a tryhard night and blew through a few ranks and got the Cold Shoulder. Best shotgun I have outside of the gauss, easily. It can even out-compete the gauss in certain situations if you wanna drop a ton of ammo into something fast. Freeze effect is kind of neat, but shotguns were already pretty effective at crippling.

I also did a daily op and missed the elder tier by nine seconds because I was completely unable to use stimpacks when the boss was chewing on me. I might have been okay if I had remembered to switch off my crafting build, but the chainsaw was doing all the work anyway. I did manage to get a Deep Space Alien Power Armor Jetpack Paint plan, which I assume I can't even use until I collect other rare plans?

Oh and I tried out some mutated events, which turned out to be okay? I will probably sour on it when I encounter one that absolutely wrecks my poo poo, but Eviction Notice with exploding super mutants was a fun novelty. I'm not exactly impressed with the prize packs though.. I already have plenty of stimpacks.

It pulls from the Scrapbox. It's literally just an expansion to your Stash that has unlimited space for Junk and as such is linked to all workbenches.

I don't know, that's why I asked!

I only just now realized some of them do. Several times (read: more than once) I have cursed not being able to pull from my stash to repair gear on the road. And then one time when I was carrying no junk at all but didn't remember it, I managed just fine.

Ah, then this probably just isn't compatible with the Union PA jetpack. Union PA is specifically excluded from some of the special cosmetics for power armor so I should have known. I never bothered crafting a jetpack on a different set.

Sometimes the plan names are hard to parse, they could probably stand to have better descriptions attached to them. Thanks for the clarification.

That's weird, they should all be linked. If you ever run into one of the unlinked ones again, please post a screenshot of the location, maybe that has something to do with it.

It's been ages since I last used a workbench to repair anything thanks to all the repair kits I get from murdering the Queen over and over.

All turrets can glitch out like this. There is one during Rad Rumble that will do the same and fire on everyone without doing any damage.

Solution is to just not build any turrets in camps. Ranged enemies stay outside their range anyways, plinking away at your camp, and melee enemies get hit like 1 out of 20 shots. Any defense items in your camp will attract more mobs, so having none will severely decrease camp attacks. They also eat a lot of budget.
