with three pointers being common now they lead to big runs when they go in, you score lots of points and the other team has to walk the ball up which helps to stop them from scoring (half court defense ) when do hey do not go in, they lead to long rebounds which leads to fast breaks and transition offense for the other team which leads to them scoring and you having to walk the ball up and score in half court.
