I offered an afternoon cup to a colleague and was mortified to find I'd almost run out of coffee.

I reneged on my offer but had a nice half-cup myself. I'm a monster.

One way, dead end... Street signs are such fitting metaphors for the human condition.

bought a bag of coffee with this on the back:

"Jim was homeless, hooked on drugs and suicidal. Four strangers shared a conversation which led to Jim checking into a recovery center. Jim was able to find sobriety after a 30 your[sic] addiction, find his identity and went from being an angry violent man to a man his family adored. Jim was helping others get off the streets and into recovery, when he tragically passed away in a workplace accident.

We have since become those strangers, we offer up hope with a cup of coffee and conversation to the homeless every week. A portion of every bag sold goes to helping people off the street, into recovery and finding them a place to stay."

the last line is missing from the bag, but it's on the website. without the last line it's wildly pointless fluff that tells me nothing about the coffee.

also it wasn't very good. medium roast according to label, but brewed like a dark??? needed a LOT of beans for a decent cup.

the last line is "Jim was my Dad."

a month or so ago I went to make morning coffee; it brewed really quickly and didn’t smell like much. apparently having beans (or anything at all) in the basket makes a difference. just a coffee tip for coffee friends
