Every time they pan to Mayim she's looking at a card.

Your mother!

I got irrationally angry at the "who played them" category. Vin Diesel has played Dom eight times, not seven (he cameos at the end of Tokyo Drift), and Benedict Cumberbatch has played Doctor Strange five times (Doctor Strange, Ragnarok, Infinity War, Endgame, Multiverse of Madness), not two.

you know, "irrationally angry at jeopardy" needs a very high bar to be tolerable but i feel like you've got a good argument here

Hell, even I was wrong, as Cumberbatch has done Doctor Strange six times (I forgot about No Way Home).

So the clues were just factually incorrect, and that's bullshit.

That wasn't even the worst one for me. I had audible reactions to two others.

In Reunion Shows: A 2022 reunion of the Salt Lake City cast of this reality franchise...

"What is The Real Housewives?"

"Yes, The Real House wives of Salt Lake City."

Then in Double Single Jeopardy.

In Palindromes in Pop Culture: Surname of the actor...

"Who is Renner?"

"Yes, Jeremy Renner."

Just...why?

She full reads the answer written on the card anytime someone says something that's partial and acceptable. It irks me because it's indicative of her condescending feel towards the players and viewers. She's constantly doing the "wow, get a load of these nerds!" stuff and at the same time "the people who watch this show are dumb".

F_Shit_Fitzgerald posted:

It's like Miyam has to constantly prove how smart she is, which I think is really bizarre given that she's a neuroscience postdoc (notwithstanding the magic brain pills).

This is funny because she also gives a little "I knew that" energy to every single response that she reads that she actually knows, which isn't many.

"...Yes."

This one might be the nadir, especially considering that the prompt itself included "this university...."

Although I do remember one last season where the contestant said "Harvard" or somesuch and she asked them to be more specific, lmao

No, there’s a giant sheet with all the answers on it. If there’s a question that has to go to the main judge they’re sitting in front of the audience and look over for a thumbs up/thumbs down ruling.

I can see Ken doing some of these, like on the Saudi Arabia question just tossing in "yeah, driving cars" but I think he makes it more of a casual aside and it doesn't feel so showy, I guess?'

IDK I don't want to make it sound like I'm just ragging on a woman for a tone thing but I really do think she has a kind of "know-it-all" energy to her hosting that Ken doesn't seem to have.

She might even be a good host for a different kind of game, just not Jeopardy. Let her loose on that 5th grader show or any of the plethora of word puzzle games like Lingo or something and I'm sure she'd do alright, but Jeopardy is in a category of its own for American game shows and she's just not suited for it at all.

Yeah I 100% agree with you, she not only comes off as a know it all but also at the same time as someone who knows nothing about the content of the show and the combination of the two is a train wreck.

The Jeopardy Youtube page has a bunch of Final Jeopardies up. Here's a random one I looked at. You can see that Ken has a card in his hand, but he's not staring at it the whole drat time.
