Even if you're not drinking way too much you can get NAFLD by shovelling mountains of red meat, dairy, and high sodium fried food into your mouth at all hours, so the answer to "wow, your liver is hosed, what is in McDonalds?" other than the mini bottles of whiskey he was tipping into his coke is "the cheeseburger is made of beef and cheese, and the fries are fried in oil and salted, as it says on the menu"

McDonald's is bad because of their environmental and workers rights shittery, because capitalism, they're not putting mRNA 5Gs into the food.

Maccies was a lifesaver when I used to work outside and the place I was in had no bakeries. They also don’t tend to give a poo poo if you just sit in there and don’t order anything as long as it isn’t rammed. Horrible company obviously, but don’t get me started on how annoyed I am that the loving Coca Cola Company happened to invent the perfect soft drink.

And McDonalds is better here in UK/EU than it is in the US.
Theres some comparison videos on YT, for example fries in the EU have 3 ingredients. In the US its like 10.

There is precisely one point to be extracted from Supersize Me, and it's in the title of the movie. Because he set the rule of always saying yes to the supersizing, he ended up eating way over his TDEE (alcoholism notwithstanding). The super-sizing question is insidious and bad and leads to bad health outcomes, but also it's like "well loving obviously", and I don't think they even did that in Europe even before the movie

The specific rule was that Spurlock would never ask for a super size meal himself, but he would always accept if it were offered. The whole point wasn't that people were eating themselves into terrible shape, which as you say is a "well loving obviously"; it was that they were being encouraged to do so.

Regarding his alcohol problems at the time: they're not relevant and it's grossly deceptive to bring them up in this way. He wasn't warned that his liver was getting hosed in by the alcohol, he was warned that it was basically turning into foie gras. Alcohol has nothing to do with that; it was down to his fat consumption.

Alcohol has plenty to do with his liver not being able to break down and process fats properly. You could argue that in the post-industrial age there's a common link between advertising encouraging getting shitfaced constantly* and the ethics of pushing huge portions, but it's a major factor in how your organs react to that.

Lol I had to check if this is true.

UK ingredients: Potatoes, Non-Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed), Dextrose (predominantly added at beginning of the potato season).

US: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [wheat And Milk Derivatives]*), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (maintain Color), Salt

Seriously though, why would "natural beef flavor" contain wheat and milk derivatives

...I guess technically milk might be argued to be "natural beef", in the pedantic sense. But wheat derivatives really aren't

Because it's Beef Flavor made from animal or vegetable sources, as opposed to coal tar, not Flavor made from Natural Beef.

Same as when Bovril switched to yeast derived beef flavouring and then the Mail shat themselves for a solid month with whatever the equivalent of 'woke' was back then.

Just checked for the obvious and

All three flavours of Monster Munch, pickled onion, flamin hot and roast beef are are suitable for Vegetarians but use milk within the flavourings, check out our list of vegan Monster Munch alternatives below.
so I imagine roast beef Monster Munch uses very similar wheat and milk derivatives.

As for alternatives to Coke, my prefered drink (apart from Club Orange, Club Rockshandy or Lucozade Orange) would be Mountain Dew. But not the stuff they sell here with artificial sweeteners. I go to Asian Markets where they import full sugar Mountain Dew.

I had already been a double cheeseburger devotee when I came across that, and I did some cursory research at the time and it seemed basically correct (when you weight your burger.xlsx rankings for ubiquitous availability).

Bit less relevant to me now that I'm not tracking macros that closely and not really eating much meat. I should check out their plant burgers sometime and see how it measures up (probably shite)

That doesn't seem to be what happened tho. In the early Me too wave he publicly outed himself in a statement as a potential sex badman, or at least that someone he worked with "believed they were raped", and detonated his career and production company.

He probably was only doing so because he felt his comeuppance was inevitable, but it's not the same as what the tweet is implying. It's not something that makes him any less lovely, it just sticks out in the memory for being fairly unusual.

Interestingly, no accuser has ever come forward, perhaps his public seppuku was enough retributive justice for the victim, who knows.
