Yeah, that's all me. Sometimes the best copy of a Toonerville panel is recaptioned by a features editor who goes into business for himself by rewriting the setup (and usually blowing it). In this case, I found that caption literally everywhere else, but it was usually in "do your eyes mean nothing to you?" quality, so I started using peanuts.ttf to flag it when I make a substitution like that.

There's a method to the Grand Unified Toonerville project. A GUT feeling, you might say.

...

...Okay, moving on.

1) All that stuff about technology and websites and poo poo and he hands in the bio with a cover like it was a book report. They probably do print out all of their emails.
2) A lot of book stores carry single issues of comic books in the magazine section. I'm pretty sure almost none of them use the type of made-for-the-supermarket spinner racks that disappeared when the direct market took over.
3) Today more than ever, those lines under Pete's eyes make him look like Jimmy Corrigan's cousin.

Yeah, I agree. You're right, a warm father-son relationship feels like a rare thing.

Incidentally, good timing, today's modern comic is all about Val and Arn's relationship.
