Zipper merges are great. You go all the way to the end of the merge lane and then jam yourself in between two stopped cars with the threat of hitting them. The only real question is why the merge lane is more than 1 car length long

Yeah Canada is not nearly as progressive as Americans think it is outside of perhaps health care. Vancouver is an overwhelmingly car dominated city with a vertical stratification of wealth. I don’t know if Seattle or Portland are that much better but it is hard to be excited about it. Honestly, I think Manitoba and Quebec drag the country a bit so it isn’t outright far-right. A lot of Europeans think Canada is the better America it is just more of a twist on America.
